Why Anna Kendrick Said She'd Never Want To Run Into Ryan Gosling
Anna Kendrick has to be one of the few (straight) women out there who would not want to run into Ryan Gosling. A Google search for "Ryan Gosling sexy" brings up 3,860,000 results, in addition to pages of shirtless, hunky pics. From "Ryan Gosling is my boyfriend" T-shirts and mugs, to quizzes asking, "Which Ryan Gosling movie character is your boyfriend?" there was even a time when Gosling became everybody's internet boyfriend thanks to all of those "Hey girl" Tumblr memes.
BuzzFeed noted that fans protested outside People's offices after Ryan Gosling was bypassed as 2011's "Sexiest Man Alive" in favor of Bradley Cooper. The "Hangover" star admitted that he was equally as shocked because he, too, thinks Gosling is hella sexy. "He's the greatest," Cooper told Graham Norton. "We were both in Paris this last week and a friend of mine showed me...there were photographs from paparazzi...and when I say 'friend,' I mean me, alone in my room looking at the computer. And it was of [Gosling] walking around, and he literally looks like he's in a photo shoot, like he just came off the runway."
And, going by what all of Gosling's exes have said about him, he's also one of the nicest guys in Hollywood. His ex-girlfriends and co-workers alike don't have a bad word to say about him. So, why did Anna Kendrick say she'd never want to run into Ryan Gosling?
Anna Kendrick's Ryan Gosling TMI tweet
It turns out Anna Kendrick has a good (and understandable) reason for wanting to steer clear of Ryan Gosling. The comedian and singer is known for her unfiltered social media posts, regularly sharing TMI and awkward insights. One of the best, though, was her Gosling tweet back in 2013. "Ugh – NEVER going to a Ryan Gosling movie in a theater again. Apparently masturbating in the back row is still considered 'inappropriate,'" she posted.
She expanded on her Gosling issues in an interview with Nylon. "I don't give a f**k. Twitter is only 140 characters," she said. "There's really not that much that I could reveal, then regret later." She admitted to not feeling uncomfortable about the Gosling tweet, even though she doesn't want to bump into him anytime soon. "Thank God I've never been in a room with him! I don't feel embarrassed, though. I'm sure he has a sense of humor," she shared. "But I'd probably feel like I'd have to address [the tweet], and I'd end up saying something to make it much, much worse."
Meanwhile, Kendrick said that, sadly, she knew the two were never meant to be. "If he really does object to sweatpants then I don't think that our relationship would work out anyway" she told Cosmopolitan, referring to Gosling's supposed dislike of sweatpants, which he later denied, insisting he loves elasticized waistbands and comfy cotton (via Vanity Fair).
Ryan Gosling's way too busy to run into anyone these days
Anna Kendrick is now single and ready to mingle. After nearly two years of dating, she and her boyfriend, Bill Hader announced they were going their separate ways in June 2022. The news came "just months" after Entertainment Tonight reported they were "in love and very happy in their relationship, and enjoying their time together." That's showbiz, kids.
Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes are two people that are definitely still happy and in love, though. Gosling and Mendes' relationship continues to grow stronger despite (or perhaps because) the couple strives to keep it on the down low. Harper's Bazaar noted that they first met on the set of "The Place Beyond the Pines" in August 2011, when they played on-screen love interests. They went public with their relationship a month later. Their first daughter arrived in 2014, with a second following two years later.
We never hear about Mendes and Gosling's kids, as they strive to keep them out of the spotlight. They do get an occasional mention, though. "Time, in general, is something I think about a lot now. My kids are growing up so fast I need to keep an eye on the clock in a way I never used to," Gosling told GQ. "We have two kids, so we spend a lot of our time trying to keep them entertained," he added.
