Meghan Trainor Carries On Joke In Her Super Bowl 2023 Pringles Commercial With Viral Song

Meghan Trainor's keeping up with her social media Pringles joke ahead of the 2023 Super Bowl. On February 12, sports fans will be flocking down to Glendale, Arizona — or their living rooms — to watch the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles battle it out for this year's title. Yet, while the sporting event will undoubtedly feature a fierce game (and an iconic performance from pop icon Rihanna!), the evening will also introduce a new batch of Super Bowl commercials, which have become a staple during the event. Back in 1967, the first Super Bowl advertisement — a Good Year commercial — aired, per Echo Market Research.

However it was the 1984 Apple advertisement that truly put the marketing scheme on the map. "Let's blame Lee Clow and Steve Jobs for making — and I'm not really blaming them, because they did the best [ad] of all time, and they changed the Super Bowl forever," Rich Silverstein said in an interview with Adweek. "It became not a football game, but an advertising game." Since that fateful day, the event has continued to air popular ads featuring high-profile celebrities and pop culture personalities. With the 2023 Super Bowl right around the corner, a new batch of commercials have been revealed, including one with Trainor and her hilarious social media joke.

Meghan Trainor teases Super Bowl Pringles ad on Instagram

On January 25, Pringles first teased their upcoming commercial with Grammy-winner Meghan Trainor, per People. Featuring the singer's hit 2022 single "Made You Look," the brief video showcased Trainor practicing a TikTok dance in a glamorous house overlooking Los Angeles. However, things take a hilarious turn when Trainor gets her hand stuck in a can while attempting to retrieve a cheddar cheese Pringle.

Shortly after the teaser was released, Pringles US marketing lead Mauricio Jenkins expressed his excitement over the partnership in a statement to USA Today. "Without spilling all the crisps just yet, snacking fans across the country will continue to see how getting 'stuck in' with Pringles is truly something to celebrate — this year with Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter, television personality and TikTok sensation, Meghan Trainor," he said.

Ahead of the upcoming sporting event, Trainor teased more of her forthcoming Pringles adventures with an additional Instagram post. Unlike the aforementioned teaser, the "Me Too" singer is shown taking pictures, brushing her hair and creating music with her hand in the Pringles can. "#ad That #StuckInPringles life is real tho @pringles #madeyoulook," she wrote. In response to Trainor's social media video, fans flocked to her comments section to share their excitement over the collaboration. One fan wrote, "It really does feel like I'll get stuck in the tube." Another person commented, "Because you know I'm all about that Pringles 'Bout that Pringles, no treble."

Meghan Trainor's Made You Look has been booked and busy with ad partnerships

While Meghan Trainor will appear in her first-ever Super Bowl commercial with her track "Made You Look," it isn't the first time that she's partnered up with a high-profile brand to support the single. Back in October 2022, Trainor collaborated with King Digital Entertainment's Candy Crush Saga to release her music video for "Made You Look," per Marketing Interactive. In addition to the exclusive premiere, the beloved singer was "Candified" for her in-game takeover. "As part of our 10th anniversary, we're excited to celebrate with our players around the world through exclusive content, as well as more fun surprises to come," said Fernanda Romano, CMO of King's Entertainment.

In an additional interview with People, Trainor stated that her Candy Crush Saga "Made You Look" collaboration brought the music video and song to a "whole new level." "I love Candy Crush Saga... and when we partnered up with them, we got to put candy and all this deliciousness in the music video," she explained. "They've never done this before, so I feel like an icon, a legend, a superstar." With the Candy Crush Saga partnership under her belt and the upcoming Pringles Super Bowl commercial, it's safe to say that Trainor is creating her lane in the advertisement world.
