Strange Things About Jason Biggs And Jenny Mollen's Marriage

Jason Biggs has had some weird and wonderful on-screen partners over the years. Who can forget Alyson Hannigan's Michelle "And then one time at band camp" Flaherty in the pre-millennial sex comedy "American Pie"? Or Isla Fisher's kooky waitress in the rom-com "Wedding Daze"? Or what about Taylor Schilling's bisexual drug money-trafficking inmate Piper Chapman in Netflix prison dramedy "Orange Is the New Black"?

But in the real world, the New Jersey native has only had eyes for one woman. Well, since 2007, anyway. That was the year that Biggs met his future wife, Jenny Mollen, a fellow actor then best-known for playing David Boreanaz's werewolf love interest Nina Ash in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" spin-off "Angel."

However, it's fair to say that their marriage has been anything but conventional. From quick weddings and sex confessions to breast milk admissions and social media revelations, here's a look at the strangest aspects of their love story.

They got engaged after just six months

Released during that strange period when Dane Cook was being touted as the next big leading man, 2008's "My Best Friend's Girl" might not have been a shining example of the rom-com genre. But while sparks didn't fly on screen between the loudmouth comic and Oscar nominated actor Kate Hudson, two of its supporting players were bitten by the love bug behind the scenes.

Yes, Jason Biggs, who played Cook's best friend Dustin, and Jenny Mollen, who appeared as "new girl" Colleen, first met on the set of the Howard Deutch comedy. And they fell so head over heels in love with each other that they got engaged just six months after. And then within a further three months they had officially become husband and wife. While that all may seem incredibly quick to some, evidently, the timeline worked out for them.

The pair first said "I do" after eloping to Los Angeles in April 2008. Then in the July of that same year they allowed their nearest and dearest to witness their union by staging a more formal ceremony in Napa Valley. According to People, approximately 40 guests attended the nuptials in which Mollen sported a 15-carat diamond and platinum bracelet.

They joke about whether or not their marriage is legal

Who knows whether the story Jason Biggs and Jenny Mollen have told about their elopement to California is true or not? They've both previously admitted to sharing a warped sense of humor before. But if we take them at face value, then the actors appear to be unsure whether they officially got hitched at the first time of asking.

In an interview with Showbiz CheatSheet, Mollen claimed that their choice of wedding location has thrown its validity in doubt: "Because, we did it off the side of the road at a FedEx Kinko's in Calabasas. It's one of those things. And the witness wasn't exactly a reliable witness."

It all sounds slightly far-fetched, but Mollen has also spoke about the unique circumstances of her first nuptials on Instagram, posting, "Who knows if that FedEx was even real or a figment of our imaginations or if the woman who married us was a licensed justice of the peace or just some down on her luck actress looking to make a quick 300 bucks?" Of course, it's all a moot point as the couple ended up getting wed in front of their loved ones at another ceremony just three months later.

They claim they don't work together well

Jason Biggs and Jenny Mollen have worked together on film ("Amateur Night," "My Best Friend's Girl"), television ("The Bachelorette," "I Like You Just The Way I Am," "My Partner Knows Best") and radio. And let's not forget the promos for the vegan version of Babybel cheese. But the latter actor doesn't believe they work together very well.

Speaking to Yahoo! Life In 2022, Mollen revealed she even has an unflattering nickname for Biggs inspired by his need for creative control: EE (expert on everything). And the "American Pie" star is apparently a particularly frustrating collaborator in the kitchen: "He needs to have the refrigerator doors closed and cupboards closed and drawers not opened, and I like to have everything open so I can have access to everything at all times."

But there is at least one upside to Biggs' quest for perfectionism. Mollen can put her feet up while he does the work. "I have this green bean recipe with cherry tomatoes. I found it somewhere and then I taught Jason how to make it and because Jason is more of a rule follower and perfectionist, he ended up making it better than me ... so it enables me to never make it again," she said. He says tomato, she says tomato.

Jenny Mollen ate chips during a threesome

Jenny Mollen and Jason Biggs have never been worried about revealing a little too much information about their marriage. But the former took things to new heights in 2011 with perhaps the most candid insight into their bedroom activities so far.

In a piece for The Smoking Jacket (via Digital Spy), Mollen divulged she once hired a sex worker for her husband's 33rd birthday so they could have a threesome. And she gave even more details about the interaction three years later in her memoir, "I Like You Just the Way I Am." While some applauded her honesty and sex positivity, others, including Candace Cameron Bure, believed the actor was essentially desecrating the act of marriage.

As a result, Biggs appeared on "The View" to launch a vigorous defense of his other half. "This is not a habitual thing on our part," he said. "We don't have a group of prostitutes who come in and out of our house on a regular basis." The "Loser" star also went on to confess that the reality didn't exactly match up to the fantasy: "Let's just say I didn't complete the mission. My wife found the whole thing to be quite hysterical even while it was happening. She was actually on the bed, watching, eating a bag of chips, laughing, so as you can imagine, I wasn't really performing to the best of my abilities."

They announced their second child in a distinctive way

In 2017, Jason Biggs and Jenny Mollen revealed on Instagram that they were going to become parents for a second time having previously welcomed son Sid into the world three years earlier. And as you'd expect from such a zany couple, they didn't share the news in a mild-mannered way.

Indeed, in the accompanying pic, the "My Best Friend's Girl" stars can be seen sharing a slightly gross contraption designed to get rid of any pesky boogers. It was captioned, "This is how I told my son babies are made," followed by hashtags such as #numbertwo and #teetsreincarnated.

In an interview with ET, Mollen confirmed that both husband and son were ecstatic about the impending new arrival: "Jason is thrilled. Sid understands that there is something in my stomach but he is growing increasingly more and more frustrated that he cannot see its face." The New York Times best-selling author added that she didn't know the sex yet (we now know the baby is a boy they called Lazlo) but joked about hoping for a poodle.

They can get rather TMI about their sex life

Jason Biggs and Jenny Mollen seem incapable of keeping schtum when it comes to an area of their lives that most celebrity couples would do their darndest to keep out of the media spotlight. In fact, they can't seem to stop talking in public about their sex life. While it's certainly great that they're so sex-positive, sometimes it can be TMI.

In a chat with Fox News, Mollen bemoaned how difficult it is to find the time to get intimate when you have a nanny in the house. "I don't know why [but] for me, I'm just like, 'There's people here! We're not all alone!' There's just this anxiety," the former "Angel" star admitted. She also said she's hesitant to get carnal with her husband when vacationing with pals. "We were those people who were like, 'Should we have sex in our car?'" she shared.

Then in an interview with New York Post, Mollen acknowledged how having two kids can often dampen the mood: "At home, I'm so in mom mode that it's really tricky to think about anything sexual when I have 'Thomas the Train' on a loop in my head. I need to be in a hotel somewhere and feel like I'm 22 again, and then I'm ready to go." And let's not forget the time that the best-selling author also boasted to Us Weekly about how her and Biggs' time in quarantine had increased the amount of sex they had.

Jenny Mollen said she was fixated on Jason Biggs' ex

In 2019, Jenny Mollen wrote an opinion piece titled "I Used to Be Jealous of My Husband's Ex, Then I Became a Mom" for Parents.com. But the "Live Fast Die Hot" author didn't just get jealous of the woman that Jason Biggs used to go out with. She was borderline consumed by the idea of her.

Referring to the ex known simply as Baz, Mollen admitted (via Yahoo! Life), "I did drive-bys down her block, posted pics of myself in cute outfits I hoped she'd stumble across while googling me, and reeled her into interacting with me by finding things of hers around our house and gifting them back to her." Thankfully, the "Viva Laughlin" star eventually realized that this wasn't a healthy way to deal with her spouse's romantic history and following an awkward chance meeting several years later, she sent Baz an apology letter for her behavior.

Speaking to Us Weekly about his wife's past conduct, Biggs argued that her confession was a sign of maturity. "We're changing and we're just kind of growing up, and for her, she felt like she needed to say something about that she's not that person anymore," he said.

Jenny Mollen has a 'disrespectful' nickname for Jason Biggs

In May 2021, Jenny Mollen appeared on one of the hottest new celebrity-hosted daytime talk shows, "The Drew Barrymore Show," to promote her Dictator Lunches concept. Of course, as is often the case with the "I Like You Just the Way I Am" author, she ended up talking about the ins and outs of her marriage to Jason Biggs, too. And, in particular, the nickname that she has for him.

The New York Times best-selling writer explained to Barrymore that when using Instagram she often deliberately misspelled her husband's name. And that the bane of mobile phone communication, autocorrect, was initially to blame: "I would write Jason and the phone would say 'Jadon,' and then I would start doing it because I'm always referred to as 'Jason Biggs' wife' and I liked it because it's sort of my way of being a little disrespectful to him."

Of course, this is all in good fun, but as Mollen noted, it's pretty strange that her phone would change "Jason," a name she surely types out all of the time, to "Jadon." She went to add, "And so I'm like, putting him in his place. No, on my Instagram, you're my husband. You're Jadon."

Jenny Mollen posts revealing photos online of Jason Biggs

In 2018, Jason Biggs star commemorated 12 months of being sober with an Instagram pic showing off his Alcoholics Anonymous silver medallion. "Turns out this s*** is hard. After some fits and starts, I've managed to put together one year of sobriety. I'm as proud of it as anything in my life," he wrote.

Wife Jenny Mollen's online response to this milestone wasn't exactly as poignant. The "Chicago Fire" star decided to post an Instagram snap of him on all fours completely naked save for a pair of boots. Using her autocorrect-inspired nickname, Mollen captioned the near-nude snap, "#tbt to jadon before he was sober." This wasn't the first time she'd shown her other half in the buff, either. Three years earlier she'd posted a since-deleted selfie in which a nude Biggs was sitting on the toilet.

To be fair to the author, she did also upload another more encouraging Instagram post in which she expressed her pride at Biggs' attempts to get sober. And she was even more supportive in a subsequent chat with Us Weekly. Referring to his decision to tell all about his substance misuse, Mollen said, "It was never everyone all around him, it was never some crazy dramatic thing, but it really was his decision to do, so I'm psyched for him. It can't be anyone else saying, 'You gotta do it, you gotta do it.'"

They documented the birth of their first child online

In 2014, Jason Biggs and Jenny Mollen once again proved that there really is nothing off limits about their relationship when they documented the birth of their first child for everyone to see. In a series of Instagram Live videos, the married couple kept their followers up to date with every step of the process, from the early contractions to the post-birth nap.

As reported by the Daily Mail, The "I Like You Just the Way I Am" stars first pressed record when Mollen was getting ready for a drive to Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Hospital, telling Biggs, "It hurts so bad." The former is later shown receiving a massage from her husband before he wheels her into the operating theatre for a Cesarean section.

Thankfully, the procedure went well, as the new parents showed with a happy pic of them holding son Sid while sporting surgical gowns and caps. The "Orange Is the New Black" star paid tribute to his wife in the snap, remarking, "You did amazing, sweetie. I'm so proud of you. He's beautiful. He's pretty damn cute."

They gave their dog a 'bark mitzvah'

You can always rely on Hollywood stars to go that extra mile when it comes to pampering, and not just themselves, either. Take Jason Biggs and Jenny Mollen, for example, the "My Best Friend's Girl" stars who in 2014 decided to celebrate their dog Teets turning 13 with a party they dubbed a "bark mitzvah." Was it cute? Sure. Was it also a tad over the top? You bet.

Mollen had no qualms about showing the world that she and her husband were pooch-crazy, taking to Instagram to reveal the highlights. In one snap captioned "Just before the service," Teets can be seen in front of a temple, waiting for the formal ceremony. In another, Biggs lights a candle for the canine. The pic was accompanied by the caption "Baruch atah adonai with the daddy."

The married couple also ensured that their other two pets, Gina and Harry, didn't miss out on the fun, uploading a snap of their three pets enjoying a celebratory dinner. Proving that he was just as daft about dogs as his wife, Biggs also reportedly tweeted, "My Dog Just Became a Man."

Jason Biggs believes he has a 'right' to breast milk

"Conan" producers were no doubt hoping that Jason Biggs would partake in some oversharing when they booked the "American Pie" star to appear on the talk show in 2014. And the actor certainly didn't disappoint.

When the subject of breast milk somehow came up, Biggs revealed that he had no qualms about tasting his wife's, even though said wife Jenny Mollen wasn't particularly enamored with the idea. The "Wedding Daze" star argued, "I just wanted to try it. I just wanted to know what it was like." While that's not the strangest thing we've ever heard, Biggs took things a step further: He leaned in toward her chest one day when she was getting ready to pump and said, "I feel like I have a right to it as well, don't I?" This didn't go over so well. "Apparently I don't, so I just tried it when it was in the bottle," he continued.

This isn't the only time that the star has talked about such matters. In 2014, he uploaded a snap to Instagram in which he can be seen driving Mollen and their young son Sid, both of whom are too busy to be looking at the camera. He captioned the photo, "I hope I don't get pulled over and get a DWB (Driving While Breastfeeding)."

They are obsessed with Bachelor Nation

Sure, we can imagine many actors like nothing more after a hard day's work on set than hitting the sofa to watch the pure escapism of reality television. And yes, plenty of us are devoted "Bachelor" fans who follow the ins and outs of the series. But Jason Biggs and Jenny Mollen have taken their love of Bachelor Nation shows to a new level. In fact, they pretty much have a room dedicated to watching it.

While giving People a tour of their Los Angeles home, Biggs allowed the cameras to film inside his self-described man cave. But the "American Pie" star freely admitted that the space isn't exactly the beer and football haven you may expect: "I put ESPN on right now to give the impression to the folks at home that I watch sports, but really this is where we watch 'The Bachelor' and 'Real Housewives.'"

The couple are also keen live-tweeters of the franchise and have also managed to land gigs within it, too. In 2015, Mollen was appointed the co-host of spinoff "Bachelor in Paradise: After Paradise." And four years later both she and Biggs guested on the third episode of Season 15 of "The Bachelorette."
