The Extremely Lavish Gifts Jay-Z And Beyonce Gave Blue Ivy When She Was Born

The firstborn child of global superstars Jay Z and Beyoncé was bound to be showered with gifts considering the size of her parent's wealth. So when their eldest daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, was born in 2012, one of the couple's first gifts to their child blew any sort of budget out of the water.

Of course, we know that Jay and Bey combined are unfathomably rich. As of this writing, the couple is estimated to have a combined net worth of about two billion dollars. With a B! When the couple announced their first pregnancy during Beyoncé's performance at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, they were already worth a ton of money as is. But as the poet Beyoncé once sang during her 2013 song "***Flawless Remix": "Of course sometimes s*** go down when it's a billion dollars on an elevator," referencing Jay-Z's infamous elevator fight with Beyoncé's sister, Solange.

So when Blue Ivy came along, the billionaires dropped some major cash on presents for the newborn future Grammy-winner.

Blue Ivy's golden gift had a six-figure price tag

No expense was spared when it came to supplying Blue Ivy Carter's life with the best of the best. Before the bundle of joy was even born, Jay Z and Beyoncé reportedly shelled out $1.3 million to rent a whole floor at New York City's Lenox Hill Hospital (though a rep for the hospital denied the price tag). Moreover, Blue Ivy's crib alone cost a whopping $20,000. That's even more than a ticket to the Renaissance tour!

One of the steepest price tags attached to Blue Ivy's baby presents was a rocking horse made entirely out of gold for $600,000.The gilded stallion was handcrafted by a Japanese luxury jeweler named Ginza Tanaka. Only the best for Blue Ivy, after all. To celebrate the joyous birth, the couple's wide breadth of friends and family were also sending extravagant gifts to the newborn. Talk about a baby shower!

The luxurious gifts definitely didn't stop there. One year later on her first birthday, Blue Ivy received a diamond-encrusted Barbie doll that was valued at $80,000. And this is just the stuff that's been reported on!

The Carter family children are 'already rich'

With the amount of wealth that is set for the Carter children to inherit, Jay Z and Beyoncé are proud to be able to give them a privileged life. On the couple's joint song, 2018's "BOSS," Beyoncé sang, "My great-great-grandchildren already rich / That's a lot of brown chil'ren on your Forbes list." Blue Ivy has already been utilizing the money at her disposal by bidding at auctions. One hilarious video captured by "Abbott Elementary" star Quinta Brunson showed Blue Ivy waving her auction paddle to bid $80,000 on a piece of jewelry at 2022's Wearable Art Gala.

Since the birth of twins Rumi and Sir in 2017, the couple has been giving us peeks into their lives as a family through their projects, like in Beyoncé's visual album for 2019's "Black Is King." Outside of the music, we have seen glimpses of the twins, such as when the "Cuff It" singer posted photos of the family dining at the upscale sushi restaurant Nobu on her Instagram in 2021. Last Halloween season, she also shared the Carters' group costume as the characters from the Disney animated sitcom "The Proud Family" on her Instagram. "Family every single day and night," she captioned the heartwarming post — referencing the theme song performed by Solange Knowles and Beyoncé's own Destiny's Child.
