However, nothing came from the speculated romance as she went back to dating Bieber.
In 2015, when Gomez and Bieber were once again on a break, it appeared that Horan was there to support her through the breakup. According to US Weekly, the two were spotted kissing at a birthday party in December of that year. It's a common misconception that when two single celebrities are spotted together, they must be dating. Niall Horan and Selena Gomez were the subject of romance rumors for years, but both have repeatedly denied any romantic involvement.
In 2015, Gomez addressed the speculation about her and Horan after reports of them getting friendly at a birthday party. In an interview with ET, the Disney Channel alum was asked if they were dating, to which she replied, "Oh my god! No! I love him, I always have. He's amazing.
By the time the two friends reconnected in 2019, Horan seemed tired of being asked about their alleged romance. As noted by the Daily Mail, during a radio interview in February 2020, the singer shared, "This petition I feel like has been going on for, I think, eight years. Myself and Selena are really good friends with the same group of mates." He also debunked a rumor that surfaced when Gomez was spotted visiting his house, saying, "I remember I saw this stupid article a while ago of her walking out of my house or walking into my house or something like that, and everyone was like, 'Oh they're together.'
