Kandi Burruss And Tamar Braxton's Bad Blood Explained

If you're a fan of reality TV shows and R&B music, chances are you've heard of Kandi Burruss and Tamar Braxton. Over the years, the two celebrity personalities have wowed audiences with their show-stopping vocals and hilarious shenanigans on their respective TV series, "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" and "Braxton Family Values." While the two have each carved their own lane in the entertainment sphere, their paths have crossed on multiple occasions through tours and music festivals.

But even though Burruss and Braxton have had an extensive and somewhat cordial history sharing the stage, their relationship outside of music hasn't been so friendly. Back in December 2022, Braxton made headlines when she revealed that a "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star and their husband threatened her. "I was threatened by a [peach emoji] and they man. I feel like if I did [what] they did... they would have told the WORLD," she wrote on her Instagram story

Towards the end of her cryptic posts, Braxton stated that it was "real BEEF" between her and the mystery individuals. While Braxton remained mum on the "RHOA" star's identity, she later confirmed that it was Burruss and her husband, Todd Tucker, during a March 2023 episode of "Watch What Happens Live! with Andy Cohen." She told Cohen, "It really did happen. I'm not lying. Since then, the two have traded barbs through interviews and social media posts. Join us as we take a deeper look into their feud.

Tamar Braxton and Kandi Burruss' beef started on Big Brother

Before Tamar Braxton and Kandi Burruss' recent feud took off, the two shared a love-hate relationship during Celebrity Big Brother Season 2. While viewers initially thought the pair would share a camaraderie, Braxton revealed during the show's first episode that they were not on good terms. "I know Kandi. ... We went on tour this time last year together. ... she ain't never really like me like that, you what I'm sayin'?" she explained.

While Braxton refrained from giving further details, Burruss later revealed that their issues stemmed from Braxton bringing out "someone" who said negative things about her. "We were on tour. It was The Great Xscape Tour with my group Xscape," she explained. "She invited someone to be in her performance that said a lot of negative things about myself and some other members of our group and people that we are close to."

While the two stars agreed to start an alliance, their partnership faced a massive hurdle after a heated argument regarding their history and the aforementioned tour. "The tour, it was horrible for me because I was having trouble in my marriage. I was having issues with my career. ... you personally interjected yourself," Braxton explained. In response, Burruss shared her side of the story before stating it was merely a misunderstanding. "This is hilarious to me, the fact that she's trying to make me this villain in her life," Burruss said in a confessional.

Tamar Braxton and Kandi Burruss seemingly reconciled before their recent feud

While Tamar Braxton and Kandi Burruss had a rocky time on Celebrity Big Brother, the two apparently squashed their beef after the show ended. In a 2019 interview with Ebony magazine, the Xscape star revealed that their rocky time in the house helped them mend their problems. "I'm so glad that I did have that [Big Brother] experience so that we could work out our problems because if it wasn't for the house, we wouldn't have worked anything out, to be honest with you," she explained. Braxton also confirmed that their beef was over on Burruss' YouTube series Speak On It. "I feel like I got a chance to really get to know you outside of us running into each other. ... I got a chance to know you as Kandi, the girlfriend," Braxton recalled.

While the pair were seemingly on good terms over the two and a half years, it all came crashing down after Braxton claimed that Burruss and her husband threatened her. In response to the claims, the "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star accused the "Love & War" singer of "twisting" things. "The only thing I'll say right now is... that's not true. My husband never said nothin' to her," she revealed during her Amazon Live session on March 20. "She and I did have words, but he didn't. Some people like to twist things a little bit, but we can talk about it later on a different platform."
