Gigi And Bella Hadid Aren't David Foster's Only Famous Former Stepchildren

Gigi and Bella Hadid are the daughters of former supermodel Yolanda Hadid, who graced the covers of many magazines in the '80s and '90s. Yolanda married her first husband, Mohamed Hadid, in 1994. They would go on to have Gigi in 1995, Bella the following year, and their brother Anwar in 1999. Yolanda and Mohamed were married for six years before they separated in 2000.

Yolanda met her second husband, David Foster, in 2006 and the two wed in 2011. The former model regained the spotlight in 2012 as a cast member of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," where she would go on to star until 2016. During her time on the show, Foster sometimes made appearances alongside his wife. The multi-talented musician and composer treated their guests to performances on the piano, but wasn't so happy when the other housewives sang along.

Yolanda and Foster ended their marriage in 2015 and finalized their divorce in 2017. Foster moved on with "American Idol" alum Katherine McPhee in 2019 and the two are currently married. The couple welcomed their first child together, Rennie, in 2021, making McPhee a first-time mom. However, this was not Foster's first rodeo, as he has five other biological children and was a stepfather to a well-known celebrity from a previous marriage.

David Foster was stepdad to Brandon and Brody Jenner

David Foster has a lot of experience with blended families. Prior to his marriage to Yolanda Hadid, he was married to Linda Thompson, who shares children Brandon and Brody Jenner with Caitlyn Jenner. Thompson married Caitlyn in 1981, while she was still known as Bruce. After Thompson found out Caitlyn was transgender, they tried to make their marriage work, but ultimately split in 1986.

Foster married Thompson in 1991 and became stepdad to Brandon and Brody for 14 years until their divorce in 2005. Although the two brothers had a famous biological father and stepfather, they stayed under the radar until Brody became overnight famous after starring in MTV's "The Hills" in 2006. He and Brandon were then featured on "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" alongside their half-siblings Kendall and Kylie Jenner and their now former step-siblings, Kourtney, Kim, and Khloé Kardashian.

During the show, Brody opened up about being resentful of Caitlyn's relationship with her daughters, while she wasn't there for him growing up. "I grew up with my stepdad. Bruce was never around for me," he told the cameras. In a strange twist of events, Foster's older daughters shared Brody's sentiment and later revealed feeling resentful toward their father for raising his stepchildren.

David Foster's biological daughters resented Brandon and Brody Jenner

Before his marriage to Linda Thompson, David Foster was married to his second wife, Rebecca Dyer. Together, they had three daughters, Sara, Erin, and Jordan Foster. David and Dyer were married for four years before they divorced in 1986. At the time, their daughters were still very young, and had to watch their father move on with another family, which they later said caused them "emotional turmoil." On Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson's podcast "Sibling Rivalry," Sara and Erin reflected on their parent's divorce. "We never lived with our dad, right, after our parents broke up. So, from the ages of three and five, we were living with our mom, and our dad was living in this $20 million house with Brandon and Brody. It had the trolley, it had the pool," Erin shared. The sisters admitted they felt "deep resentment" about being excluded from their father's and stepbrothers' lavish lifestyle. "We don't have the gate code. We don't have a room there. We're not really a part of that world," Erin recalled.

For his part, Foster was a good stepfather, at least according to Brandon Jenner. In an essay for the anthology, "To Me, He Was Just Dad," Brandon wrote, "I never called him dad, but he was the one who lived with us, who told me to pick up my clothes and turn off the light — all the typical dad things ... He was a wonderful father figure."
