Robert De Niro is extremely familiar with what fatherhood entails. In his 79 years of living, the actor has welcomed seven children into his life: Drena, Raphael, Aaron, Julian, Elliot, Helen, and one latest addition, who we don't know the name of just yet. The "Taxi Driver" actor has welcomed all seven of his children over several decades, so it's no surprise that there's a drastic age gap between his oldest and youngest kids.
His blended family began when De Niro adopted his first wife's child, Drena, in 1976, per People. Throughout the years and several relationships later, De Niro went from having one child to a whopping seven kids. While it may seem like a handful, the "Taxi Driver" actor has loved every minute of it, even during some of the most difficult moments. He told Us Weekly, "I love my children, just being with them. It's not easy. Sometimes it's fun and you love your kids, and sometimes you want to kill them! Then, when you have the good moments, you forget about the ones that weren't good."
De Niro has had a lot of great moments with his children, and they are only going to continue because, in May 2023, the actor revealed he welcomed his seventh child at 79 years old, per AP News. This exciting news, however, has made people realize that his oldest and youngest kids may not have much in common as they are decades apart.

Talk about a big age gap! Robert De Niro's eldest child, Drena, is 52 years older than her newest sibling. Now, as we know, Drena was adopted by De Niro when he married his first wife, Diahnne Abbott, in 1976, per People. Drena was born in 1971 and was only 5 years old at the time the "Raging Bull" actor became her father. Drena is now 52 years old and will be celebrating her 53rd birthday in 2023, the same year her father welcomed his newest child.
De Niro dropped the shocking news while promoting his upcoming film, coincidentally called, "About My Father," to Entertainment Tonight. The reporter told the actor, "I know you have six kids," before De Niro interjected and revealed that he has seven. He shared, "Seven, actually. I just had a baby." Although he didn't name the mother of his new bundle of joy, De Niro's reps confirmed the actor is a proud father to seven children.
It seems the latest addition might only get along with her fellow younger sibling, Helen, who is 11 years old, per ET. Raphael, 46, Aaron, 27, Julian, 27, and Elliot, 25, seem a little too old to be playing with the latest member of the De Niro family — but the "Taxi Driver" actor sure has a handful of babysitters ready to go.
Age is but a number to Robert De Niro
Robert De Niro is 79 years young, and he's not mad about getting older. In 2013, De Niro and his "Last Vegas" co-star, Michael Douglas, talked about getting older in an interview with reporter Kjersti Flaa. He said, "[Aging] is a given there is nothing you can do about it..." While he doesn't mind getting older, he does realize how fast time has gone by, especially when it comes to his kids. He said, "It went by so fast..the kids grew up so fast, where did the years go? Now, they're in college. All those things, it's true." Luckily, however, De Niro gets another go at fatherhood with his latest addition to the family.
By welcoming a new baby in 2023, De Niro will get to have all the life experiences that come with having a newborn once again. And the "Goodfellas" actor is more than ready to take on any challenge that is thrown his way when it comes to becoming a father at 79. In 2023, he told ET, "You know, my kids disagree with me at times, and they're respectful. My daughter, she's 11, she gives me grief sometimes and I argue with her. I adore her, but, you know. And my youngest now, that'll be more to come. But, that's what it is." So, whether he's 30 years old, or 79 years old, the actor is more than ready to be a dad.
