American Idol Alum Lauren Alaina Engaged To Alex Hopkins

Lauren Alaina is ready to get hitched!

On Saturday, July 21, 2018, the former American Idol star took to Instagram to announce that she and longtime boyfriend Alex Hopkins are engaged after nearly six years of dating.

"Being yours forever has a nice 'RING' to it," Alaina wrote, captioning a sweet snapshot of the cute pair sharing a kiss with her gorgeous ring on full display. "#HoppilyEverHopkins @_alex_hopkins WE ARE ENGAGED. EEEK. 💍❤️." For his part, the country singer's beau posted the same photo, writing, "Ladies and gentleman, may I present to you for the first time, the future Mrs. Lauren Hopkins. 📸@jsrandall."

Alaina and Hopkins, both 23, began dating in October 2012. In May 2018, the singer hinted that wedding bells may be chiming in the couple's future, telling Taste of Country, "We have definitely talked about marriage, obviously. When you have been together for six years, it's bound to come up at some point."

The 2011 American Idol runner-up isn't the only celeb to make headlines with engagement news this summer. As Nicki Swift previously reported, Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson shocked fans when they became engaged after only a few weeks of dating in June 2018. The "No Tears Left To Cry" singer later came to fellow pop star Justin Bieber's defense following his similarly quick engagement to on-and-off girlfriend Hailey Baldwin earlier this month.

Meanwhile, David Foster proposed to his long-rumored girlfriend, Katharine McPhee, in early July while the two vacationed in Capri. The news came just two months after they confirmed their relationship at the Met Gala.
