Who Is Jimmy Buffett's Wife, Jane Slagsvol?

Forget "Margaritaville," Jimmy Buffet has been in Loverville since he married his wife, Jane Slagsvol. The couple met in 1976 when Slagsvol came down to Key West for her spring break. The two were like magnets with each other, and by the following year, they had tied the knot. During an interview with the New York Times, the "Trip Around The Sun" singer detailed how hectic his life was around the time of his marriage. He said, "I started another band, worked the road, had my second and last hit, bought a house in Aspen, started spending summers in New England, got married, broke my leg three times in one year..."

Through all the craziness that comes with the musician's lifestyle, distractions can also come. The early years of their marriage involved a lot of partying, and Slagsvol was over it. She shared with Time Magazine (via Daily Mail), "I had been with Jimmy since I was a child, through the craziest times. And I didn't have a clue who I was. So I left. I got sober." Slagsvol called it quits with Buffet, but luckily true love always finds a way back, and in 1991 the two reconciled. Ever since then, the couple has been attached at the hip. Surprisingly, however, there isn't much known about Buffet's personal life, including Slagsvol. Here's everything we do know about the musician's true love.

Jane Slagsvol and Jimmy Buffet welcomed 3 kids

As if Jimmy Buffet and Jane Slagsvol's life wasn't crazy enough, the couple welcomed three kids. According to Closer, the musician and Slagsvol had their first child, Savannah, in 1979, before their brief split. Their second child, Sarah, was born in 1992, and their last child, Cameron, was born in 1994. Slagsvol and Buffet actually adopted Cameron, but the reasoning behind the decision is unknown.

Still, all of Slagsvol's children love her as much as she loves them. Savannah once shared a sweet photo of her mom on Instagram for her birthday. She said, "Happy Birthday to one of the coolest ladies I know... a.k.a Jane Buffett also known as my awesome mom!!!" Slagsvol has done her best to keep herself out of the limelight, so she hasn't said much about being a parent, but Buffet has.

According to Closer, Buffet revealed that he is more of a laid-back parent compared to Slagsvol. What else can you expect from the creator of Margaritaville? Buffet shared, "[I'm] not a good disciplinarian. Jane runs the show." Even though Buffet lets Slagsvol take over disciplining the kids, the musician also instills his children with great values. He told Billboard, "I was taught not to hate in the segregated South. And I was taught to give back and I'm trying to teach my children the same thing." Buffet and Slagsvol clearly make a great team when raising their kids.

Jane Slagsvol helped and inspired Jimmy Buffett's career

When Jane Slagsvol came into Jimmy Buffet's life, she guided the musician to a successful career that afforded him millions and mansions. According to the Daily Mail, Slagsvol "introduced professionalism" to Buffett's band and helped polish their look. Slagsvol has always had a practical mindset compared to the "Margaritaville" singer's imagination. The musician even detailed this to The New York Times. He said, "My wife has the looks of Catherine Deneuve and the mind of Mr. Spock ... She has always been the voice of reason in my Peter Pan existence." The couple balances each other out, and it not only helps Buffet's career but has inspired him.

Anyone would love to have a song dedicated to them, and Slagsvol was lucky enough to have that happen to her. According to Extra Chill, Slagsvol inspired one of Buffett's biggest hits, "Come Monday." The song, released in 1974, was one of Buffett's first tracks to hit the Top 40 charts, and there was a reason why. The lyrics perfectly describe how it feels to miss the person you love. Buffett sang, "Come Monday, it'll be alright / Come Monday, I'll be holdin' you tight / I spent four lonely days in a brown L.A haze /And I just want you back by my side." At the time the song was released, the musician was seeing Slagsvol, and if that doesn't convince you enough that she was the muse for the hit track, she also starred in the music video.
