Pippa Middleton, Husband James Matthews Welcome First Child

Congratulations are in order for Pippa Middleton and her financier husband, James Matthews!

The English socialite, who's famously the younger sister of Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, welcomed her first child, a baby boy, with Matthews on Monday afternoon, Oct. 15, 2018, Page Six reports.

Born at 1:58 p.m. local time at St. Mary's Hospital in West London, the couple's little bundle of joy weighed in at 8 lbs., 9 oz. At the time of this writing, additional details about Middleton and Matthews' newborn son, including his name, have yet to be revealed.

As a representative for the new parents told BBC News, "Everyone is delighted and mother and baby are doing well." Meanwhile, a Kensington Palace spokesperson told the news outlet that Duchess Kate and husband Prince William, who welcomed their third child in April 2018, are "thrilled" about the newest addition to their extended family.

As Nicki Swift previously reported, Middleton, 35, first announced that she was expecting her first child with Matthews, 43, in June 2018, following months of pregnancy speculation. At the time, she revealed in a column for Waitrose, "I was lucky to pass the 12 week scan without suffering from morning sickness. That meant I was able to carry on as normal" (via Hello! magazine).

After announcing their engagement in July 2016, the married pair tied the knot in May 2017 at St. Mark's Church in Englefield, England. Just days before giving birth, Middleton showed off her baby bump at Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's wedding, which was held at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle on Friday morning, Oct. 12.

Middleton and Matthews' exciting baby announcement follows recent news that there's another royal baby on the way. On Monday, Oct. 15, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle revealed that they are expecting their first child together. On behalf of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who married at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle in May 2018, Kensington Palace tweeted, "Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019."

Congratulations to Middleton and Matthews on their baby news!
