Ariana Grande Breaks Silence On Pete Davidson Split

Ariana Grande is breaking her silence.

On Tuesday evening, Oct. 16, 2018, the "No Tears Left to Cry" singer took to her Instagram Stories to announce a social media break following her recent split from ex-fiancé and comedian Pete Davidson.

"Time to say bye bye again to the internet for jus a lil bit," Grande wrote to her 131 million followers in a since-deleted post, before seemingly hinting at the former couple's breakup (via E! News). "It's hard not to bump news n stuff that i'm not tryna to see rn. it's very sad and we're all tryin very hard to keep goin. love u. and thank u for bein here always. love."

As Nicki Swift previously reported, Grande, 25, and Davidson, 24, broke up after five months of dating on Sunday, Oct. 14. The pair's whirlwind romance began dominating headlines after the two got engaged after only a few weeks of dating in June 2018.

Amid their high-profile romance, the "God is a Woman" singer decided to take some time away from the spotlight following the untimely death of her ex, Mac Miller, last month. The late rapper, whom Grande dated for nearly two years before calling it quits in May, tragically died of a suspected overdose at the age of 26 on Sept. 7. According to TMZ, Grande was understandably in "an incredibly dark place" following his passing, which reportedly played a major role in her decision to call off her quick engagement.

Just prior to breaking her social media silence on the matter, Grande made her first public appearance in weeks at the Tuesday, Oct. 16 taping of A Very Wicked Halloween, which will air on NBC later this month. The pop star previously revealed that she would perform "The Wizard and I" for the televised concert special in celebration of Wicked's 15th anniversary on Broadway.

However, Grande's struggle with anxiety nearly derailed her return to the stage. As she later shared on her Instagram Stories, "Can't believe i almost let my anxiety ruin this for me today!!! Not today satan! not tomorrow or the next day either not no more u can suck my big green d**k. Finna sing my heart out and be a big walking vessel of love bye."

For his part, Davidson, who has yet to publicly comment on their breakup, has taken to keeping an even lower profile than his ex-fiancée. According to Us Weekly, the Saturday Night Live star canceled his upcoming headlining gig at Temple University's Comedy Night Live in Philadelphia, Penn. for "personal reasons."
