Real Housewives' Bethenny Frankel Recently Hospitalized Following Severe Allergic Reaction
Real Housewives star Bethenny Frankel just suffered a major health scare.
On Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, the reality TV star took to Twitter to reveal that she was recently hospitalized following a severe allergic reaction.
"I have [a] rare fish allergy," Frankel wrote to her 1.6 million followers. "Sun, I had soup, itched & was unconscious for 15 mins then [taken] to ER & ICU for 2 days w BP of 60/40." Noting that she "couldn't talk, see" during this time, the 48-year-old Bravo star admitted, "[I] thought I had a stroke & [was] dying & [was] told if 5 mins later I'd be dead. 911 & EPI saved me. I'll never not carry an #epipen @newtonwellesley xo."
Grateful for the treatment she received at Newton Wellesley Hospital in Newton, Mass., Frankel later vowed to use her platform for good in the wake of her near-death experience, writing, "My next project is to get them new mattresses from @Casper bc they have no budget for TVs or comfortable beds for really sick people." In response to a fan's suggestion that she donate EpiPens — which can be expensive for those who don't have health insurance — to schools and other organizations, the Real Housewives of New York star tweeted, "I am all over this. I've heard about it and this will be a mission of mine."
Readers may already we aware that this scary incident unfortunately follows a difficult year for Frankel. As Nicki Swift previously reported, her boyfriend, businessman Dennis Shields, was found dead of a suspected oxycodone overdose in his New York City apartment this past August. He was 51 years old. Frankel, who shares 8-year-old daughter Bryn with ex-husband Jason Hoppy, began her on-again, off-again relationship with Shields in 2016.
While she understandably kept a relatively low profile in the months following his passing, Frankel shared her grieving process on social media, revealing in September that spending time at the beach helped her cope with the loss."Doing anything in or by the water is life saving," she wrote in part at the time, adding, "When you feel sad, you cry then you just have to force yourself to shift. It's so hard but it works."
More recently, Frankel has been romantically linked with businessman Paul Bernon since early October 2018, according to Us Weekly. The TV star gave credit to Bernon following her recent hospitalization, writing to a fan on Twitter, "He saved my life."
We're wishing Frankel a speedy recovery!
