Alec Baldwin Enters Guilty Plea Following November Arrest

Actor Alec Baldwin has pleaded guilty months after he was taken into New York police custody for his alleged involvement in a fight about a parking space.

On Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019, Alec Baldwin tweeted out about appearing in Manhattan court earlier in the day, where he pleaded guilty. "At the Criminal Court bldg on Centre Street, I pled guilty to a charge of harassment, a violation," the 30 Rock star shared. He then called attention to the fact that his court case received more press attention than a few of the bigger cases being reviewed in the same location that same day. He noted, "In that bldg today there are 3 murder trials scheduled, one involving a white supremacist who killed someone in Times Square. All the press was outside the courtroom I was in."

In a second tweet, Baldwin continued, "The press reported that I punched someone. That is untrue, and that is a serious charge." Linking to a CBS New York article about a deadly bar altercation in Queens, he stated, "A man was punched in NY recently and died."

Baldwin then revealed his sour take on the American judicial system, telling his 1.11 million followers, "Nothing that resembles justice ever enters or leaves any courtroom in this country."

Once again addressing the rumored punch he threw, Baldwin said, "The vermin at Fox News continues to tell a story about 'an alleged punch.' There are three cameras in front of my bldg. It didn't happen."

As reported by The Daily Beast, Baldwin was arrested on Nov. 2, 2019, and was charged with "assault and harassment" before later being released from police custody. According to the publication, someone was holding a parking spot for Baldwin when another driver allegedly took the actor's space. After Baldwin allegedly confronted the driver, the two reportedly engaged in an altercation and began pushing one another. Baldwin was said to have punched the other driver, who was later reportedly taken to a nearby hospital.

While he admitted he did "push" the alleged victim, as reported by ABC News, Baldwin denied throwing a punch. At the time, Baldwin tweeted that "the assertion that I punched anyone over a parking spot is false," adding, "I wanted to go on the record stating as much."

According to E! News, as part of his guilty plea, Baldwin will have to attend an anger management class.
