Expert Tells Us Riley Keough & Priscilla Presley's 2024 Emmys Body Language Proves Drama Is Behind Them

The last year has been difficult for Riley Keough, Priscilla Presley, and those who loved Lisa Marie Presley after her passing. But, the death of Lisa Marie made for more complicated family dynamics between her daughter Keough and mother Priscilla. A legal battle ensued after Lisa Marie's death over her estate, Graceland, and Elvis Presley Enterprises.

After months of family awkwardness, Keough opened up to Vanity Fair about what happened in the fallout following her mother's death. "When my mom passed, there was a lot of chaos in every aspect of our lives," she told the outlet. "Everything felt like the carpet had been ripped out and the floor had melted from under us. Everyone was in a bit of a panic to understand how we move forward, and it just took a minute to understand the details of the situation, because it's complicated. We are a family, but there's also a huge business side of our family."

Despite the difficulties between them in the past months, Priscilla and Keough walked the red carpet and attended the 2023 Emmy Awards together. As People points out, the two didn't just attend the show together, they even appeared in matching Chanel ensembles. Still, we were curious what their body language could tell us about what's going on behind the scenes.

They seem comfortable together

Elle called Priscilla Presley's attendance with granddaughter Riley Keough to the 2023 Emmy Awards a surprise. The two had been engaged in a legal battle for months in 2023 following the death of Lisa Marie Presley. While their spending time together came as a surprise to audiences, Keough told Entertainment Tonight that she was glad to have her family's support at the event.

For a bit more insight into what may be going on behind the scenes, we consulted body language expert, communication coach, and author of "A.W.E.S.O.M.E" Jess Ponce III. "Priscilla and her granddaughter, Riley, appeared incredibly comfortable in each other's company," Ponce said of seeing them together. "There was no sign of any rift or distance between them — quite the opposite. Positioned closely, they angled toward each other, touching side by side. This connected pose conveyed unity and warmth, reinforced by Riley's affectionate smile as she glanced at her grandmother."

Ponce also added that Priscilla tightly holding Keough around the waist also demonstrates casual comfort. Generally, the two seem to have elevated their tensions, per Ponce. We hope that our body language expert is right and that these two are finally able to move forward together as a family.
