What Keanu Reeves' Sisters Are Doing Now
Ah, Keanu Reeves. The Internet's Golden Boy is beloved by fans for his chivalrous nature and low-key disposition – much unlike some of his Hollywood peers. And while some may be quick to judge him for his acting abilities, the majority of the world has embraced "the Keanaissance" with open arms.
However, as well-mannered and friendly as the actor is, he suffered a tremendous amount of hardship before all of his mainstream fame. Born in Lebanon, Reeves' home life was troubled, mainly due to his father's crippling drug addiction. Too much for the family to handle, his mother packed up their things and moved the family to Sydney while Reeves was still a toddler. After a year, it was off to New York where his mother remarried. Before long, Reeves and his family were on the move again. This time, they settled in Toronto where the Speed star grew up.
While much is known about Keanu thanks to his A-list success, the same cannot be said about his three sisters: Kim, Emma and Karina Miller. Another part of the Reeves clan that's enjoyed success in Hollywood is Karina Miller, Keanu's half-sister with whom he shares the same mother. Per People, the film producer was born in Toronto.
Although Miller could have employed her older brother's help to rise to the top in Tinseltown, she decided to carve her own path. It's something Reeves is proud of, too. According to the Daily Mail, The Matrix star enjoyed a "family night out" in September 2019, supporting his younger sibling during the screening of her new action flick, Semper Fi.
Showcasing his well-known, humble nature, Reeves even deflected questions about the rumored fourth Matrix flick. "It's very ambitious," Reeves teased when Entertainment Tonight egged him for details. Refusing to say more, he instead gushed about his sis. "It's really awesome to be here and be invited. It's a great accomplishment, it's a wonderful film." As for Miller? She immediately returned the sentiment. "He's always been so supportive and so protective of me doing my own thing. I always really appreciate that so." Aww!
Keanu's biological sister has settled for an idyllic, calm life
Kim Reeves, Keanu's only biological sister, followed in her brother's footsteps in pursuit of a Hollywood dream. Unfortunately, Kim's time in front of the camera was cut short when the actress was diagnosed with leukemia in 1991 when she was just 25 — right before her first flick came out. By 1999 – and at the height of her older brother's Matrix fame – she went into remission. "When she was in the hospital he was there with her all the time, sitting at her bedside, holding her hand," a family friend told People in 2001. "My brother is my prince," Kim gushed to People. "He listens to every word, to every comma after every word, that you are saying."
It seems like Keanu and Kim are still close to this day even though the once-aspiring actress has left America. According to the Daily Mail, she now lives in Rome where her brother is known to visit and spend time with her.
Emma Reeves craves to have a better relationship with her famous brother
Not much is known about Emma Rose Reeves, Keanu's half-sister from his father, Samuel Reeves. Staying away from the spotlight, she doesn't have much of a relationship with her famous brother. Speaking to The Mirror (via Whoa Is (Not) Me) in 2003, Emma Rose explained, "I would love to have a relationship with Keanu," adding, "I don't want anything from him — not money, not fame by association — just to get to know my big brother. I see all his films and read all the articles about him, but it's not the same as being part of his life."
Keanu's relationship on his dad's side has always been strained. In 2001, Samuel spoke to the Honolulu Star-Bulletin, explaining how his substance abuse created a rift between himself and his A-list son. "He's made it clear that he wants nothing to do with me. My feeling was so intense that it told me how much I missed the kid. It's been so long for everything."
Samuel Reeves passed away in 2018, but it seems like that hasn't changed much in terms of Keanu's relationship with his half-sister. According to The Victor O'Hana Facebook page (via Mr.-Reeves.com), Emma Rose hosted a memorial luncheon in light of Samuel Reeves' passing, but none of her father's other children were in attendance.
