The Shady Truth About Farrah Abraham

Farrah Abraham has become a jack-of-all-trades since appearing on MTV's 16 and Pregnant back in 2009, her first foray into reality television. The Iowa native went over well with viewers, and producers at the network took notice, inviting her to join the cast of a new spin-off show. Teen Mom (known as Teen Mom OG since its fifth season) thrust Abraham into the public eye and opened new doors for her. Unfortunately for the mother-of-one, the doors she picked didn't really lead anywhere.

While some praised it for its honesty, Abraham's debut album My Teenage Dream Ended was widely derided as one of the worst pop records ever created when it was released in 2012. The following year she made her bow in the adult entertainment industry, a decision that ultimately came back to haunt her. She's acted in a couple of low-budget, non-pornographic feature films in the years since, but she's still better-known for her off-screen drama.

There's no denying that Abraham has been dealt a rough hand in life, but sympathy for this reality TV star is in increasingly short supply nowadays — particularly among former colleagues. Numerous shady stories have come to light in recent years, and we've rounded up the very best of them.

She reportedly had several Teen Mom crew members banned from set

Abraham never made any effort to hide her true feelings when the Teen Mom cameras were rolling, but according to several people involved with the production, that was nothing compared to how she behaved behind the scenes. When The Ashley launched an investigation into Abraham's alleged on-set antics, numerous crew members came forward and painted a picture of a woman on a power trip. According to one veteran Teen Moms OG staffer, Abraham wasn't afraid to throw her weight around and would often "ban" people that rubbed her the wrong way — and that was apparently very easily done.

"She legit banned one crew member from the set because she could not pronounce his name," another crew member revealed. "It's so ridiculous that people thought we were making it up, but it 100 percent happened." The crew reportedly adopted a policy of not speaking to Abraham unless she spoke to them first, but that didn't stop her from sending people packing. Eventually, MTV ran out of staff to send. "It was to a point where there was basically no crew left to go out there," one insider confirmed. "People who she 'banned' had to go but hide out in a car outside."

She's had multiple run-ins with the law

Abraham was arrested following an altercation at the Beverly Hills Hotel in 2018, and she didn't go quietly. The reality star, who appeared to be intoxicated, allegedly struck a security guard after a row with some guests got heated. In footage obtained by TMZ, she can be seen yelling "Go f*** yourself" at officers, who booked her for resisting arrest. She managed to avoid jail time with a plea bargain that included two years probation, five days of community labor, and 12 hours of anger management.

This wasn't the first time that Abraham lost it with the law. She was busted for DUI back in 2013, and the officers that pulled her over got a real earful. "They insisted on the regular questions and asked me to get out of the car," Farrah told In Touch. "I got out of the car, and because I was upset, I yelled." The C-lister claimed that she had only sipped a few drinks while she waited for her sister to finish up, but a breathalyzer test revealed that she was almost double the legal limit.

Abraham is also known to UK police, who cautioned her in 2015 after a spat on Celebrity Big Brother's Bit On The Side. The Channel 5 aftershow was taken off the air early when Abraham clashed with English TV personality Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace. Abraham threw a glass against a wall during the ruckus, injuring actress Vicki Michelle in the process.

Farrah Abraham trashed an innocent plastic surgeon on Twitter

Abraham has been pretty open about her plastic surgeries (the former Teen Mom star has had rhinoplasty, a chin implant, and at least two breast augmentations), even the ones that have gone wrong. In January 2015, what should have been a simple filler procedure left her with massive swelling on her lips. Abraham uploaded some photos of what she called her "botched, messed up lip augmentation" to Twitter, which led to many people turning on the surgeon. The truth, however, is that it wasn't the doctor's fault at all — the reality star had suffered an allergic reaction to the numbing agent.

A perfectly innocent professional had his reputation smeared by this shady tweet, which came back to bite Abraham on her cosmetically enhanced butt during an appearance on E! reality series, Botched. The then-24-year-old asked the show's resident surgeons, Paul Nassif and Terry Dubrow, to fix her lips once and for all, but they refused to take her on as a patient because of the way she hung her previous doctor out to dry. "It appears that the doctor did nothing wrong," Dr. Nassif said (via the Daily Mail). "He did all the right treatment. He went to the hospital to see her, but Farrah got on her social media, and boom. It was horrible."

Farrah's okay with her daughter getting plastic surgery

Farrah caused a stir back in 2014 when she told Radar Online that she would 100 percent support her daughter if she wanted to get plastic surgery, so long as she was old enough. "Like myself, I waited until I was 18," Farrah said. "If she would like to do that, she's her own adult." The reality star was quick to add that both she and Sophia are perfectly happy with the way they look. "We very much believe that we are pretty," she said. "We are secure people. But if there's something that she can't live with, then yes, go for it!"

Farrah's parenting skills were called into question following her plastic surgery comments, but she's used to that by now. She's been accused of exploiting her daughter on several occasions, and the haters have doubled down on her since she allowed Sophia to have her own Instagram account. Farrah and her daughter are also active on TikTok, and they started 2020 with a brand new controversy — viewers were left horrified when the child started twerking in a video. "Someone take her kid," one comment said. "CPS where you at?"

Farrah Abraham's risqué online antics have been costing her followers

Farrah was called out for letting her daughter wear a sports bra for Instagram in 2019, though clearly she doesn't see this as inappropriate attire (she wore one for her court appearance the previous year, after all). One angry user said that it was "Tacky AF to post a 10yo in a bra" and many others agreed, but when it comes to what is and isn't appropriate, Farrah's filter appears to be broken.

She's posed nude on more than one occasion, and often shares sexy snaps of herself wearing next to nothing — she even tagged her kid in a video where she danced around wearing a revealing bath robe. "This video wouldn't be so bad for a single woman doing her thing... until I noticed she tagged her daughter," one user commented, adding that it seemed "morally incorrect" to expose Sophia to such things. She came under fire again in January 2020 after she posted a video of her scantily-clad self dancing around on a yacht while her daughter was on board.

The general consensus in the comments sections is that a woman who regularly flaunts her curves and promotes sex toys on her Instagram feed should not have her daughter as a follower, and people are apparently refusing to be party to it. According to The Blast, the former Teen Mom star has been losing followers on a massive scale, shedding a whopping 80,000 in a single month.

The time she referred to 9/11 as '7-Eleven'

Abraham posted a tribute video to her YouTube channel on September 11, 2019, as countless other content creators do on that day every year. There's absolutely nothing wrong with honoring the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, but if you're going to do it, make sure you know the actual date. The former Teen Mom star dropped a huge blunder right at the beginning of her vlog, referring to 9/11 as "7-Eleven" by mistake. "Okay, so we wanted to do, since it's gonna be September 11, in honor of the Freedom Towers and observatory deck and everything, of 7-Eleven, we are going to do this," she says into the camera.

Abraham failed to correct herself, but her error was quickly picked up on by viewers, many of whom found her gaffe disrespectful. "Unfollowing right now," one former fan said over on Instagram. "The fact that she said 7-Eleven is disgusting. She is using this horrible moment in history to try to gain more fame and exploit her child even more. So shameful." Abraham apologized amid the backlash, and somehow managed to make things worse.

The reality star told TMZ that she had a "blonde moment" and that she was "actually crushed" when she realized what she'd done. "I don't even know my name sometimes," she said. "I think my heart was in the right space ... Sophia definitely enjoyed 9/11." We're assuming she meant to say that Sophia enjoyed the 9/11 Memorial.

She reportedly refuses to work with straight guys

Abraham regularly clashed with her Teen Mom OG producers before she was sacked. She shoved one producer and called him a "dumb, twisted mother f*****" back in 2016, and in 2018 footage of an explosive argument between the highly-strung star and another producer emerged. Abraham was angry because the on-set teacher allegedly gave her daughter some candy. "You can call and get a different set teacher, but this b**** is fired today," Abraham can be heard saying. The volatile mom burned through several producers during her time, some of whom were reportedly dismissed right out of the gate because of their sexual orientation.

According to one Teen Mom OG crew member, Abraham flat out refused to work under a heterosexual male out of fear that they wouldn't be able to control themselves around her. "One producer got hired and didn't even make it out there [to Abraham's shoot]," the staffer told The Ashley during its investigation into Abraham's bad behavior. "Farrah found out that producer was a straight guy and she said, 'No, absolutely not.' She told multiple people on set that she didn't like working with straight male producers because they would hit on her."

The truth about Farrah Abraham's feud with Nicki Minaj

Abraham's feud with Nicki Minaj began when the latter watched a 2016 episode of Teen Mom OG and couldn't quite believe the way the reality star spoke to her mom. "Farrah is a c*** to her mother," the rapper said in a tweet that was liked by over 21,000 people. Minaj noted that even Abraham's daughter seemed to be tiring of her behavior. "She was like b**** go do some porn & leave gramma alone," the musician said. As the top selling female rapper of the last decade, Minaj is on a whole different level when it comes to fame. Unsurprisingly, Abraham used her beef with the A-lister to her full advantage, making headlines with her harsh comeback — she told Minaj that she should concentrate on her "rapist brother" instead.

Minaj went quiet after that, but Abraham apparently wanted to milk their feud for all it was worth. Speaking to The Shade Room on the MTV Video Music Awards red carpet a few months later, Abraham called Minaj "shady" for singling her out on Twitter the way she did. "I'm really disappointed in a woman acting like that," she said (via Inquisitr). "My God, there's just been so many disappointments, not just with me but other public figures, other artists, and it's just f***** shady to do that s***." Later that night she called Minaj "really ignorant" during an interview with Hip Hollywood. "She really looks bad lately."

She allegedly concocted a fake relationship to appear on Couples Therapy

According to James Deen, Abraham asked him to pretend to be her boyfriend after his involvement in her sex tape was revealed, but he refused to play ball. "They wanted to send us out on a date and then call the tabloids to come," the adult film star told Today. "I told them that I am not a prostitute and I'm not going to go on fake dates with people." Did Abraham learn her lesson? Apparently not, because the following year another man came forward claiming he'd been asked to stage a fake relationship with her.

DJ Brian Dawe, who featured on the VH1 reality show Master of the Mix, told Radar Online that Abraham got his phone number from his agent. She reportedly told him that she needed a fake boyfriend so she could appear on the show Couples Therapy, and Dawe agreed. "Farrah and I spent lots of time talking on the phone and communicating via text to come up with fake scenarios that would possibly cause difficulties in our fake relationship," he revealed. "All of it was obviously false."

Dawe backed out when he started to feel uncomfortable about lying on TV, but VH1 didn't make it easy for him. "The network still wanted to produce a reality show based on this relationship, even though I had told them it was a complete lie," he claimed. Abraham ended up going on Couples Therapy alone.

She reportedly refused to let Teen Mom crew members use her bathroom

Tensions between Abraham and MTV were at a high just before her departure from Teen Mom OG. "There has to be respect for our crews and for the producers," executive producer Morgan J. Freeman told Abraham during a heated discussion about her future. "The amount of work that goes into keeping you happy has bubbled up to a point where we have to figure out if we move forward. Out of nine moms, you're the only one who is the problem." Freeman accused Abraham of lacking empathy for others, and that goes way beyond losing her temper from time to time.

According to Teen Mom OG crew members, it's the little things that make working with Abraham a living nightmare. Several people have confirmed that the reality star refused to let the crew use her bathroom when they were filming in her home, despite the fact that there aren't any public ones nearby. "Farrah was very strict on that rule, there was no budging her even for an emergency," one insider told The Ashley. MTV had to bring some Porta-Potties in, but Abraham apparently didn't like the way they looked so she had them removed from her property. "The fact of the matter is that she viewed the crew of Teen Mom as people who were less than her, plain and simple," another staffer said.

Farrah Abraham tried to get her Teen Mom replacement fired

Abraham has teased a possible return to Teen Mom OG, but she has one big stipulation — no newbies. Speaking to Radar Online, the mom-of-one said that she would consider making a sensational comeback if Cheyenne Floyd (who was brought in alongside Bristol Palin to fill the gap left by Abraham) is fired from the show. "Things must be my way or I don't come back," said Abraham, who claims that she still has a good relationship with the show's producers despite her past outbursts. "I don't share my seasons with newbies. I'll come back if it's OG all the way."

The former cast member revealed that she has enjoyed watching MTV try (and fail, in her opinion) to replace her. "Seeing how they picture fulfilling my place has been very funny and entertaining to me," Abraham said. "No one knows Cheyenne is on the show, let's be real." Floyd, who was never actually a teen mom (she gave birth to her daughter, Ryder, at age 24), just isn't suitable for the show, Abraham claims. "You're duping what Teen Mom is about now," she added. "You make Teen Mom out to be a lie." She may have a point, but publicly calling for someone to be fired is still pretty darn shady, even by Farrah Abraham standards.
