The Truth About Bob Saget's Much Younger Wife Kelly Rizzo
Despite the fact that he's taken on a plethora of roles over the years, Bob Saget will forever be known as Danny Tanner — especially since he revived the '90s character in Netflix's Full House reboot, Fuller House. Throughout the series, Saget played a widowed father of three who prioritized his family over his love life. Still, fans seriously shipped Danny and Vicky Larson (who even had a cameo on Fuller House) and rooted for him to find his happily-ever-after. But what about Saget's love life IRL? Well, the 63-year-old is blissfully married to wife Kelly Rizzo, who is 23 years his junior.
Initially, the age gap may seem a little shocking when you realize 40-year-old Rizzo is even younger than Saget's TV daughter Candace Cameron Bure, who played DJ Tanner on Full House. She's also only two years older than Jodie Sweetin, a.k.a. Stephanie Tanner, and seven years older than the Olsen twins, who played Michelle Tanner. In other words, if Rizzo had been cast on Full House, she would have been more in the age range of one of Saget's kids than his love interests.
But, at the end of the day, that doesn't matter much, since they're two adults whose relationship is entirely their own decision and they seem happy. So if their age gap doesn't bother them, fans shouldn't care that much about it either, right?
Bob Saget and his wife are pretty 'damn' happy together
After meeting in 2015, Bob Saget and Kelly Rizzo tied the knot in October 2018 with a beach wedding in Santa Monica, per People. Saget shared on Instagram at the time, "Okay, so we went and did it. And damn are we happy." At the end of that year, Rizzo shared a wedding photo on her own page and wrote, "Best day of 2018...actually best day since 1979 for me."
In case you hadn't guessed, these two love to gush over each other. In a birthday message to Saget in May 2019, Rizzo wrote, "Every day we are together I grow more and more grateful to have you by my side. Your thoughtfulness, generosity, and desire to be the best person you can be are unmatched. And you make me laugh EVERY day. I love you forever."
In Saget's 2020 Valentine's Day message to Rizzo, he called her "beautiful," writing, "She is a real Influencer — And she has influenced me to become a better man and fill my heart with even more love and appreciation. She is also obviously the most tolerant woman in the world." They clearly think the world of one another.
Kelly Rizzo gives travel and food tips on the 'gram
Bob Saget isn't the only one in this relationship who's comfortable in front of the camera. Kelly Rizzo's Instagram handle is @EatTravelRock — and that's also the name of her web series that she shares regularly on IGTV and YouTube. As explained on her website, Eat Travel Rock TV is "your all-access pass to the best in food, travel, and music." In 2018, the series won the "Best Influencer Program" award from the Public Relations Society of America for episodes about Virginia tourism.
In her trailer for Eat Travel Rock TV, Rizzo explains she grew up with her Sicilian family in Chicago, who "raised [her] to explore and expand [her] palate." She loves food and adventure. She also said she spent her years "immersed in the lifeblood that is rock and roll." Past YouTube videos of hers include how to travel like a local in Chicago and expert packing tips for traveling. Over on Instagram, she shares advice for avoiding tourist traps in NYC and how to overcome a fear of flying.
Kelly Rizzo brings out Bob Saget's youthful side
Based on their Instagram captions and interviews, it really does seem like Bob Saget and Kelly Rizzo bring out the best in each other. In December 2018, Saget told Us Weekly (via Closer Weekly) that his wife makes him feel younger, saying, "It's like I'm 20 again. It's very unusual." He also added, "I fell in love with her, and apparently she did the same thing. We're really, really happy. I don't want it to stop!"
Tying into the topic of age, apparently Saget made light of being older when he first proposed. According to Rizzo's Instagram post in April 2018, "The story goes...when he proposed he got on one knee & said 'I Want to spend whatever years I have left with you.' 🤣😡 I made him rephrase it of course...But seriously- I can't wait to spend COUNTLESS years of ❤️ and 🤣 with you @bobsaget."
So long story short, yes, Rizzo may be 20+ years Saget's junior, but they bring each other joy and plan to do so for years to come.
