The Untold Truth Of Jeezy And Jeannie Mai

Rapper Jeezy and The Real co-host Jeannie Mai are ready to say "I do." The couple announced their engagement on April 6, 2020, via Instagram. "I want nothing more than to spend the rest of my life loving you....YES💍,"Mai captioned a shot of the couple holding hands on a beach. "Would say 4 life but that's not long enough 🖤 Infinity," Jeezy captioned a photo of the pair looking loved-up and elegant. Now that the stars are planning to spend their lives together, fans are wondering how they met and if their showbiz love will last.

Jeezy and Mai began dating in November 2018 after meeting on the set of The Real, according to People. The two kept quiet about their romance, and still didn't confirm their relationship even after appearing in one of Malika Haqq's Instagram photos together in January 2019.

The same month on The Real, Mai's co-hosts asked her if she was dating the rapper to which she replied,"Jeezy and I hang out. He's very special to me, so we don't really have a label to define what it is we're doing. We're just having a good time together." She then added, addressing the show's fans, "I promise you that when there is that one special boo, you will be the first to know, from me, unless Malika goes TMZ on me again!"

Jeannie Mai and Jeezy go public

In April 2019, Jeezy and Jeannie Mai finally went public with their romance — they even walked the red carpet together! The TV host accompanied the "Soul Survivor" rapper to his inaugural SnoBall Gala in Atlanta, a ritzy event that raised money for the rapper's local non-profit, Street Dreamz.

At the time, People reported that Mai (in a curve-hugging black dress) and Jeezy (in a black and white tux) "walked into the event arm-in-arm and were all smiles through the night." Evidently, Mai was proud to be by her man's side at that moment because, for the first time, she posted a photo of them together on Instagram. "Them Libras be like," she joked in the caption.

Soon after, Mai gushed about Jeezy on The Real, telling her co-hosts and viewers: "He's introspective. He's passionate. He's incredibly deep. He's a visionary. He's a great leader. He's an amazing servant to his community," she said of the hunk, adding, "I found my equal."

That year, the pair spent Thanksgiving with Jeezy's family. "Family over everything.. Happy Thanksgiving, from ours to yours," the rapper wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of him and Mai with his relatives.

Jeezy pops the question

Things got better and better for the couple as time passed, and in April 2020, Jeezy popped the question! According to People, the star surprised Jeannie Mai with an at home Vietnam-themed date night, since their trip to Vietnam was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Jeezy rolled with the punches and adapted his proposal to take place at his home in Los Angeles. "Jeannie and Jay were set for a trip to Vietnam this April. What Jeannie didn't know is that Jay was planning to propose," a representative for Mai told the outlet. "Instead, Jay decided to bring Vietnam to Jeannie with a surprise quarantine date night in his home filled with Vietnamese food and decor."

This will be Jeezy's first wedding, but Jeannie's second. The TV personality was previously married to actor Freddy Harteis. As she once said on The Realthat relationship was nothing like the one she has with Jeezy because back then, her "standards were low." Mai added, "We can go into a whole counseling session on why I only gave myself that bare minimum, so I am not blaming my ex for the things that he barely came through to do," she said.

Luckily, she's seemingly found the man of her dreams in Jeezy.
