The Real's Jeannie Mai Addresses Her Divorce, Says There Was 'No Cheating'

The TV personality has never been more honest with her fans.

On Oct. 23, 2017, Jeannie Mai spoke with her fellow The Real co-hosts and the show's viewers about her split from her husband of 10 years, Freddy Harteis. "To this day, I mean it honestly, he's the best man I know," Mai began. "I married him cause he's like my dad. He's very loyal, very compassionate, so funny, an awesome guy."

"In our 13 years of being together, there was never any lies, no betrayal, no cheating, nothing," the 38-year-old continued. "You guys are so supportive, and I love our Real fam and friends out there who know that it's not about taking sides. It's about loving what you go through."

Mai's rep previously confirmed news of her divorce to Us Weekly on Oct. 20, though she did not publicly comment on the matter at the time.

Mai has been open about her relationship with Harteis, whom she married in August 2007, on The Real. In 2014, she revealed that she and her husband had been debating about whether or not to grow their family. "You know how much I love Freddie, my husband. He's my life," Mai said, choking back tears. "Before we got married, I was very clear about the fact that I probably would not have kids, just because I've never felt that. And now, getting older, he definitely seems like he wants kids, and he actually came out and said that he wants children."

She went on, "I guess it's just really hard because I can't just have a child for another person, and you don't have a child to save your marriage, but we are in love, and we are enjoying life, and he's my Freddy, and I'm his Jeannie, and we don't have any other problems except that, which, you never know what could happen in the future."

Mai told viewers, "Right now we are clinging to each other and we're waiting for God to kind of tell us what that means, and it's kind of weird to go to sleep every single night holding on to that person you love so much, not knowing where it's going to go."
