Celeb Couples Who Called It Quits In 2017

In 2017, no celeb couples were safe. Whether the pairs had dated for a few months or had been married for years, many decided that it was time to call it quits. And while everyone knows that nothing lasts forever, no one expected some of Hollywood's biggest power couples to separate. Read on to learn all about the celeb breakups that left fans reeling.

Scarlett Johansson and Romain Dauriac

Avengers actress Scarlett Johansson filed for divorce from her French journalist husband, Romain Dauriac, in January. According to Us Weekly, Johansson initiated their separation. A source told the magazine that she "felt like they didn't have much in common as far as lifestyle." Dauriac's lawyer later told People that his client was "shocked" by Johansson's decision to divorce.

The two had started dating in 2012 and had secretly married in October 2014. They share one child together, daughter Rose Dorothy.

Unfortunately, fans of Johansson shouldn't hold their breath waiting for more details about the actress' personal life. She's made it clear that she won't be answering any questions about her divorce.

"As a devoted mother and private person and with complete awareness that my daughter will one day be old enough to read the news about herself, I would only like to say that I will never, ever be commenting on the dissolution of my marriage," she said in a statement obtained by Us Weekly.

Lea DeLaria and Chelsea Fairless

Orange Is the New Black's Lea DeLaria announced her split from fiancée Chelsea Fairless in January. Sharing the couple's previous engagement announcement—which featured DeLaria and Fairless' faces photoshopped into a picture from Liza Minnelli's wedding to David Gest—the comedian told her Instagram followers, "Apparently this was an eerily prophetic choice of engagement photo as our relationship has since gone the way of David and Liza, with one small exception: our split is amicable."

DeLaria continued, "Please exclude us from the tragic and basic celebrity breakup narrative. We were happy together for four years and will remain in each other's lives."

Michael Mosberg and Jemima Kirke

After seven years of marriage, Girls actress Jemima Kirke and her husband, Michael Mosberg, decided to separate, reported People. Kirke, who shares daughter Rafaella Israel and son Memphis with Mosberg, attributed the breakup to her acting career.

"So much of my life has been about reaction, just following the flow rather than making a strong choice. In acting you are always asking yourself why you do things, why you make the choices you make," she told ES Magazine (via Us Weekly). "Everything means something. And so then you start looking at your own life in that way. I've learnt a lot more about myself and started to figure out what I really want."

Guess her marriage to Mosberg just wasn't part of her personal script.

Cuba Gooding Jr. and Sara Kapfer

Add the Jerry Maguire actor to the list of big-name celebs who broke it off with their longtime life partner. TMZ reported that Cuba Gooding Jr. filed for divorce from his high school sweetheart and wife of 22 years, Sara Kapfer. Gooding Jr., who shares three children with Kapfer, reportedly listed irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. While still sad, the news wasn't exactly unexpected as Kapfer had previously filed for separation in 2014 (via E! News).

Jane Fonda and Richard Perry

The Academy Award-winning actress split from her longtime partner, record producer Richard Perry, after eight years together. Perry confirmed the breakup to E! News, stating that the pair's "romantic relationship is over."

He also noted that he and Fonda are "definitely extremely good friends" and still have "a great deal of love for each other."

As could be expected, the celeb couple also decided to sell their shared Los Angeles home (via Forbes), listing the five-bedroom mansion for an astounding $13 million.

Courtney Stodden and Doug Hutchison

Infamous couple Courtney Stodden and Lost star Doug Hutchison called off their controversial union in early January. Despite their 35-year age difference, the two had managed to weather nearly six years of marriage together—though we're still a little grossed out that they wed when she was just 16 years old.

According to Radar Online, Stodden, who'd suffered a miscarriage in July 2016, was "simply just over it." A source told the gossip site the former teen bride wanted to "move on" and felt "like a hostage with Doug."

Stodden later celebrated the big breakup with a "divorce party" in Las Vegas, Us Weekly reported. You know, as people do.

Chris Evans and Jenny Slate

One of Hollywood's most unexpected celeb couples called off their relationship in early February. E! News reported that, after dating for nine months, Gifted co-stars Chris Evans and Jenny Slate broke up, though, luckily, the split was reportedly amicable.

And it certainly seemed that way, given that both Evans and Slate have since discussed their split and neither had a single bad thing to say about the other—Evans has called Slate his "favorite human," while she's referred to him as a "lovely person." Wish all breakups could be that pleasant.

Drake and Jennifer Lopez

Before Jennifer Lopez started dating Yankees player Alex Rodriguez, the singer-dancer-actress was cozying up to rapper Drake. And, while the two looked awfully cute together, things just didn't seem to work out. In early February after about two months of dating, Lopez shared a text post on Instagram that read, "Timing is everything. If it's meant to happen, it will, and for the right reasons."

A few days later, Us Weekly reported that Lopez and Drake were no longer an item.

Amber Rose and Val Chmerkovskiy

No one saw this relationship coming. Model Amber Rose and Dancing With the Stars pro Val Chmerkovskiy first reportedly hooked up in October 2016 but called it quits just five months later. In a since-deleted post on Instagram (via People), Rose addressed the breakup, revealing that the two had mutually decided to separate.

"[Val] and I broke up due to our own personal reasons but we still care about each other tremendously and we love each other's families even more," Rose wrote. "So please understand that we are all human and we have feelings too. Nobody got dumped and nothing we do over here is malicious it's just how life works sometimes."

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom

After reportedly hitting it off at a 2016 Golden Globes after-party, Perry and Bloom's romance seemed to heat up quickly, though it'd be months before the two made their relationship Instagram official. Spotted together numerous times throughout their courtship, their romance appeared to be going great—until it wasn't.

Just one day after the two were seen together at Vanity Fair's 2017 Oscar after-party on Feb. 26, Perry and Bloom announced they were no longer together. In a joint statement (via E! News), a representative said, "Before rumors or falsifications get out of hand we can confirm that Orlando and Katy are taking respectful, loving space at this time."

Stephen Belafonte and Mel B

The former Spice Girls member shocked fans when she announced her separation from husband Stephen Belafonte after nearly 10 years of marriage. USA Today reported that Mel B (full name Melanie Brown) filed for divorce in March 2017, listing the pair's date of separation as Dec. 28, 2016. Since then, Mel and Belafonte, who share a daughter together, have been engaged in a nasty legal battle, with Mel accusing Belafonte of being physically abusive and of having an affair with the family's nanny.

Clay Pell and Michelle Kwan

After four years of marriage, the Olympic ice skater and her husband, former White House staffer Clay Pell, called it quits in March. In a statement to People, Pell said, "It is with deep regret that I share that Michelle and my marriage is coming to an end."

In court docs, the two reportedly cited irreconcilable differences as the cause for their split.

Tyga and Kylie Jenner

The controversial pairing of reality star Kylie Jenner and rapper Tyga came to an official end after the two reportedly called it quits in March. According to Hollywood Life, Jenner was the one to end things, as a source told them that Jenner was "growing into a woman, and needed to make some changes in her life." Not too long after, Tyga was reported to have moved out of Jenner's home (via Us Weekly).

A few months later, Jenner opened up about her split on an episode of her reality show Life of Kylie. "There was no crazy fight, we just decided...Well, I decided that I'm really young," she explained, "I don't want to look back in five years from now and feel like he took something from me when he's really not that type of person."

Aaron Rodgers and Olivia Munn

In April—just two months after the two sparked rumors of an engagement—Olivia Munn and her Green Bay Packers quarterback boyfriend Aaron Rodgers called it quits, People reported. After going public with their relationship in late 2014, Munn and Rodgers would date for nearly three years. Unfortunately, a source told E! News that Munn and Rodgers were "just on two different pages in life."

Munn reportedly was the one who broke it off, but the breakup appeared to have been amicable.

La La and Carmelo Anthony

Despite their near 14-year relationship, the Powers actress and the NBA star decided to go their separate ways. And while their split was reportedly "amicable," rumors soon surfaced that Carmelo had cheated on La La. A source told Page Six, "Melo's tagline was, '[La La's] married, I'm not.' That's how he would justify it. His attitude is that all professional athletes do it, and many of them do."

But Carmelo's infidelity may have been the least of their problems, considering E! News' report that he'd gotten a woman pregnant—though these rumors have not been confirmed by La La or Carmelo.

However, things might not be over for this couple just yet. The pair, who share a son together, are reportedly in no rush to sign the divorce papers, TMZ noted. La La seemed to confirm this idea when she visited The Wendy Williams Show in June and stated, "You know, marriages are tough, and you know that. We all know that. It's filled with ups and downs. We are just going through a time right now."

Demi Lovato and Guilherme 'Bomba' Vasconcelos

"Sorry Not Sorry" singer Demi Lovato reportedly moved on from boyfriend Guilherme "Bomba" Vasconcelos sometime in April, about nine months after the two started their romance. "It wasn't a dramatic split," a source told People. "Bomba is a good guy, but the relationship just ran its course."

According to E! News, Lovato and her former MMA fighter beau simply realized they're "not meant to be a couple." Lovato's since cleansed her Instagram of photos of them together.

Wissam Al Man and Janet Jackson

In April, news broke that Janet Jackson and her billionaire husband of five years, Wissam Al Man, were divorcing—just three months after the birth of their son, Eissa (via the Daily Mail). Though their split was reportedly amicable, a source told E! News that the decision to break up was because the two disagreed about how they "wanted to raise their child."

However, another source said that Jackson started leaning toward a divorce after Al Man reportedly showed little concern for her mother, who was allegedly a victim of elder abuse (via E! News). "That's when Janet made her decision that there was no turning back," the insider explained. "She was worried about her mother—and Wissam showed little to no concern."

Aryn Drake-Lee and Jesse Williams

After almost eight years of dating and five years of marriage, Grey's Anatomy star Jesse Williams filed the paperwork to divorce his wife and mother of his two children Aryn Drake-Lee, TMZ noted. Drake-Lee later sought sole custody of their kids, claiming Williams had a "revolving door of women." She also alleged that Williams had a bad temper and that she'd once seen him threaten to kill a neighbor.

However, it doesn't look like Drake-Lee will get her way in court—at least, not without a fight. In August, Williams hit back at her claims, stating that he "always played a constant and significant role in [their children's] lives" (via E! News).

Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor

In late May, the Zoolander actors shocked fans when they announced their separation after 17 years of marriage. In a joint statement obtained by Entertainment Tonight, Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor said, "With tremendous love and respect for each other, and the 18 years we spent together as a couple, we have made the decision to separate."

The pair—who share two children, daughter Ella Olivia and son Quinlin Dempsey—continued, "Our priority will continue to be raising our children as devoted parents and the closest of friends. We kindly ask that the media respect our privacy at this time."

A source told People that Stiller's busy career may be, at least partially, to blame for their decision to split. Still, given that they endured Stiller's prostate cancer diagnosis together (he's currently cancer-free), you'd think they'd be able to weather just about anything so long as they had one another.

Alexander Skarsgård and Alexa Chung

After dating for about two years, True Blood star Alexander Skarsgård and model Alexa Chung split up. Though the exact time of their breakup is unknown, the two were last seen out together in May. In July, a source told E! News, "It was a clean breakup that was caused by busy schedules and distance. They really did love each other and were pretty serious. They still have respect for each other."

Leonardo DiCaprio and Nina Agdal

In May, Leonardo DiCaprio and his model girlfriend, Nina Agdal, called it quits after dating for over a year. Though the two appeared serious—with DiCaprio and Agdal trekking all over the globe together on luxurious vacations—the Inception star apparently just wasn't ready to make a serious commitment.

"Leo thought Nina was a super cool girl," a source told People. "It almost seemed different this time because he was way more affectionate and public with her than he normally is, but his friends knew it wouldn't last."

Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Riley Stearns

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Riley Stearns announced their split on social media in May. Taking to Instagram, Winstead shared a photo of her kissing Stearns on the cheek, writing: "Sitting here with my best friend who I love with all my heart. We have spent our lives together and it has been full of joy and warmth every day."

"We've decided to move on from our marriage, but we will stay best friends and collaborators for all our days," she continued. "We are still ride or die, just in a different way now. I love you always, Riley."

Stearns reportedly shared the same image on his own Instagram page, adding, "We still love each other very much but we're different people with different paths and different futures. I can't wait to see where we both end up."

Guess breakups don't always have to end on bad terms.

Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell

Though Bachelor star Ben Higgins gave his final rose to Lauren Bushnell, the two just weren't meant to be. In a joint statement made to People magazine, Higgins and Bushnell said, "It is with heavy hearts that we announce our decision to go our separate ways."

The pair, who'd previously revealed that they were in couples therapy, continued, "We feel fortunate for the time we had together, and will remain friends with much love and respect for one another. We wish nothing but the best for each other, and ask for your support and understanding at this time."

At least their time together will forever be memorialized on The Bachelor and Ben & Lauren: Happily Ever After.

Elle Macpherson and Jeffrey Soffer

Australian supermodel Elle Macpherson called things off with her husband of nearly four years, billionaire Jeffrey Soffer, Page Six reported. Before marrying, the two had dated for two years, breaking up briefly before reconciling and getting engaged in 2012. According to Woman's Day (via the Daily Mail), Macpherson and Soffer had been "leading virtually separate lives for months" before filing for divorce. Macpherson will reportedly receive about $53 million in the divorce—not to mention the couple's $26 million mansion.

Dominic Sherwood and Sarah Hyland

The Modern Family actress and her Shadowhunters beau broke up after two years of dating. Not much is known about their split, but it sounds like Sarah Hyland and Dominic Sherwood ended things on good terms. "They aren't dating anymore but they both have mutual respect for one another and remain friends," a source told People in August.

Billie Lourd and Taylor Lautner

The Scream Queens co-stars dated for eight months before deciding to go their separate ways in July, though they'd reportedly grown close after the death of Billie Lourd's mother Carrie Fisher and grandmother Debbie Reynolds. Lourd's uncle, Todd Fisher, had even commented on the pair's relationship, noting that Taylor Lautner had "stepped up and acted like a husband" while Lourd dealt with her loss (via E! News).

Fortunately, Lourd and Lautner's breakup appeared to be amicable. A source told Hollywood Life that the two are "still friendly" and that Lourd's taking time to focus on her career.

Chad Gilbert and Hayley Williams

Pop-punk music fans cried after Paramore's Hayley Williams and New Found Glory's Chad Gilbert, who'd dated since 2008, announced their separation. In a since-deleted Instagram post in July (via People), the couple stated that "marriage is not for the faint of heart."

"The two of us have been together for the better part of 10 years. We've grown up together and we've been beside each other through a lot of goodness and a lot of challenges," they said. "We want to publicly state — plainly, and only this time — that we are splitting up. We also feel it's important to state that we are going to be okay and in fact, we remain close friends who are good in each other's eyes."

The two had married just over a year earlier in February 2016.

Adrian Pasdar and Natalie Maines

Country music fan or not, everyone's hearts broke a little when Dixie Chicks singer Natalie Maines and actor Adrian Pasdar ended their marriage. The couple, who share two children, had been together for 17 years, marrying back in 2000. Though their split was reportedly amicable, neither star has publicly commented on their failed marriage, with a rep for Maines calling the breakup "a private family matter."

Aubrey O'Day and Pauly D

The Jersey Shore star and the Danity Kane singer separated in July after over a year of dating. A source told E! News at the time that Pauly D (full name Paul DelVecchio) called off the relationship, reportedly because Aubrey O'Day had been "pressuring him to get a ring." And, apparently, Pauly D just wasn't ready to commit, despite him previously saying that O'Day was "the one" for him.

But, considering that Pauly D and O'Day have broken up and gotten back together a few times in the past, there's still hope that these two Famously Single stars will reconcile and reignite their fiery romance.

Blac Chyna and Rob Kardashian

Some couples have breakups that make the history books—or, rather, magazines covers. And, while Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna's separation wasn't exactly surprising (they'd broken up before), it was the fallout from the split that had people gasping in shock. After news broke that the two called off their engagement in February (via People), the pair appeared to have rekindled their romance yet again—but Kardashian dashed all hopes of a reconciliation when he went off on a long social media rant, sharing sexually explicit photos of the mother of his child and accusing her of cheating on him and doing drugs.

In response, Chyna hired celebrity lawyer Lisa Bloom and, as E! News reported, filed a temporary restraining order against her former fiancé, which was quickly granted by a California court.

Anna Faris and Chris Pratt

Fans across the country realized that true love was dead after Chris Pratt and Anna Faris announced they'd be divorcing. In a post on Facebook in August, the two released a joint statement, revealing, "We tried hard for a long time, and we're really disappointed."

Pratt and Faris, who share son Jack together, had been married since 2009 and had appeared to be deeply in love, with each sharing adorable Instagrams of each other throughout the years. Unfortunately, it seems that Pratt's development into a bonafide movie star had caused some strain on their marriage.

Helen Hunt and Matthew Carnahan

News broke in August that Helen Hunt and her partner, House of Lies writer Matthew Carnahan, decided to separate after over 16 years of dating. According to In Touch, their split was "very messy." A source told the magazine that Hunt was convinced that Carnahan had cheated on her, though he'd denied her accusations.

To E! News, an insider revealed that the couple had had "a rocky relationship and many offs and ons over the years," and that the pair "stayed together as long as they did because of their daughter."

Amber Heard and Elon Musk

Following her divorce from Johnny Depp, Justice League actress Amber Heard got together with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, making their relationship Instagram official in April. Unfortunately, the two wouldn't remain together for long, as they later split in early August.

"They had fun for a few months, but are both very busy with work now. It was getting hard to find time to see each other," a source told People. "Elon's is working day and night. This is his life and he loves it. He is in no position to be in a relationship right now and ended it."

However, not all seems lost for these two stars. Commenting on a post on Heard's Instagram account (via Page Six), Musk wrote that the two are "still friends, remain close and love one another," noting, "who knows what the future holds."

Tom D'Agostino and Luann de Lesseps

Movie stars weren't the only celebs to call off their relationships in 2017. Real Housewives of New York City star Luann de Lesseps and her husband Tom D'Agostino reportedly filed for divorce after just seven months of marriage.

"It's with great sadness that Tom & I agreed to divorce," de Lesseps announced on Twitter. "We care for each other very much, hope you respect our privacy during this sad time!"

While de Lesseps' tweet make it sound like the pair split amicably, Page Six reported that the reality star got violent with D'Agostino shortly before their separation, slapping him in a Manhattan restaurant.

Vanessa Grimaldi and Nick Viall

Ben Higgins and Laura Bushnell weren't the only two Bachelor stars to throw in the towel on their relationship. Nick Viall and fianceé Vanessa Grimaldi also called it quits and ended their engagement—five months after viewers watched his proposal on the season finale of The Bachelor.

"It's with a great amount of heartbreak for the both us as we have decided to end our engagement," the couple said in a joint statement to E! News. "We gave this relationship our all and we are saddened that we did not get the fairytale ending we hoped for. We will continue to be there for each other no matter what. This hasn't been an easy decision, however, as we part ways, we do so with lots of love and admiration for each other."

Zach Villa and Evan Rachel Wood

Westworld (2016-) actress Evan Rachel Wood called off her engagement to her Rebel and a Basketcase bandmate Zach Villa in August 2017, according to The Blast. She confirmed their separation with a tweet on her 30th birthday, writing, "All the single ladies!"

According to Us Weekly, the pair started dated after meeting at a John Hughes-themed cabaret in 2015 and got engaged in January 2017. It appears their shared appreciation for '80s classics just wasn't enough to keep them together.

Josh Duhamel and Fergie

Fergie (real name Stacy Ann Ferguson) and Josh Duhamel broke fans' hearts when they announced their split after eight years of marriage. Though an exact date was not announced, the two revealed that they'd broken up sometime in 2017.

"With absolute love and respect we decided to separate as a couple earlier this year," the couple said in a statement (via E! News). "To give our family the best opportunity to adjust, we wanted to keep this a private matter before sharing it with the public. We are and will always be united in our support of each other and our family."

Billy Bush and Sydney Davis

The former Access Hollywood host and his wife of nearly two decades, Sydney Davis, decided to go their separate ways, announcing their split in September (via Entertainment Tonight). "After almost 20 years of marriage, they have separated for the moment to evaluate their life together," a representative for Billy Bush told the celebrity news site. "They love each other and their children deeply and are committed to a bright future."

While it hasn't been confirmed, it would seem possible that the couple, who share three children together, felt some strain on its relationship after Bush's involvement in that infamous Donald Trump tape. The footage, which featured the 45th president of the United States bragging about grabbing women by their genitalia, surfaced just one year prior to the breakup.

Laurence Fishburne and Gina Torres

Longtime couple Laurence Fishburne and Gina Torres called it quits after 15 years of marriage. In September, Torres told Entertainment Tonight, "With heavy hearts, Laurence and I quietly separated and began the dissolution of our marriage in the early fall of last year."

"There are no bad guys here. Only a love story with a different ending than either one of us had expected," the former Firefly star continued. "Happily, however, our family remains intact and we will continue to raise our daughter together with love and joy and awe."

Sounds like Fishburne and Torres, while no longer romantically involved, are getting along just fine, if only for the sake of their daughter, Delilah.

Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen

Say goodbye to a major 2000s couple. The O.C. star and the Star Wars actor separated after 10 years together, E! News confirmed in late September. Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen, who share daughter Briar Rose, had reportedly experienced "a buildup of issues and problems" over time. According to one source, Bilson wanted an "easier" relationship, as Christensen was often "reclusive" and had a depressed outlook that was "bringing her down."

However, insiders told The Blast that Christensen's relationship with his Little Italy co-star Emma Roberts had been a factor in the breakup, as Bilson had reportedly found text messages between the two that were, presumably, inappropriate. Yikes.

Audrina Patridge and Corey Bohan

The Hills star Audrina Patridge announced her divorce from husband Corey Bohan in late September after less than one year of marriage. Citing irreconcilable differences, Patridge, who shares a daughter with her now-ex, reportedly filed for divorce due to a domestic violence incident, TMZ reported. She also filed for a temporary restraining order against Bohan as well as a child abduction prevention order.

According to TMZ, Bohan, in one reported incident, pushed Patridge while she was holding their infant child and then threatened to kill himself if she left him. Since Bohan had reportedly displayed similar behavior in the past, Patridge "realized things had to change before it got even worse, and she had to get her and her daughter out of the situation," according to a source for People.

Vito Schnabel and Heidi Klum

Supermodel Heidi Klum called off her romance with art dealer Vito Schnabel after dating for three years, People reported. A source attributed the breakup to the couple's busy schedules on opposite coasts. However, it was later revealed that Schnabel had been arrested in early September at Burning Man for "distribution and manufacture of a controlled substance," specifically psychedelic mushrooms (via TMZ).

While Klum hasn't commented on Schnabel's arrest, it wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility that the America's Got Talent judge left him after his run-in with the authorities, especially considering that Klum has four children. A guy that's facing up to five years behind bars for a felony wouldn't necessarily be the best influence for kids.

Erik Asla and Tyra Banks

Heidi Klum wasn't the only model to break up with her S.O. this year. In early October, Page Six reported that Tyra Banks split from photographer boyfriend Erik Asla. The two had been together for five years and share one child, son York, who was born in January 2016. The separation was apparently "drama-free," and the two will reportedly continue to work together professionally.

Ewan McGregor and Eve Mavrakis

In October, news broke that the Trainspotting star and his wife of 22 years had called it quits. While their separation was surprising, Ewan McGregor and Eve Mavrakis' split apparently happened months earlier, according to a source for People. The pair, who reportedly met on the 1995 British crime show Kavanagh QC, share four daughters together: Clara, Jamyan, Esther, and Anouk.

Before his big breakup made headlines, McGregor was spotted kissing Fargo co-star Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who ended her marriage earlier in the year (via The Sun).

Tamar Braxton and Vince Herbert

Singer Tamar Braxton filed for divorce from her husband, Vince Herbert, in late October. According to TMZ, a rep for Braxton called the breakup an "extremely difficult decision." However, the split is hardly surprising, considering that two months earlier, the pair was involved in a domestic dispute at Atlanta's Ritz-Carlton hotel—in which Herbert allegedly bit Braxton.

Braxton and Herbert, who were married for almost 9 years, share one child together, Logan Vincent.

Jeannie Mai and Freddy Harteis

The Real co-host Jeannie Mai and her husband, Freddy Harteis, announced their split in October, with a rep telling Us Weekly that the pair would be "amicably divorcing." Mai later addressed the separation, telling viewers of The Real, "In our 13 years of being together, there was never any lies, no betrayal, no cheating, nothing."

While Mai did not share the cause of their break, she previously revealed that they'd been debating whether or not to have children, a discussion that appeared to have put strain on their relationship.

David and Shannon Beador

The Real Housewives of Orange County star Shannon Beador and her husband, David Beador, decided to end their relationship after 17 years together.

"I felt alone in my marriage," Shannon told People. "You can do what you can to keep your family together, but you have to have willing parties. You need two people to make a marriage work, and that just wasn't happening in our relationship."

The couple, who renewed their vows just over a year earlier, had been struggling in their marriage for some time, as documented by Shannon's hit Bravo show. In 2015, David admitted to having an affair. Years later, as E! News noted, Shannon implied that her 40-pound weight gain had caused some issues in their relationship, claiming that her extra weight had "disgusted" her husband.

Sounds like these two might be better off without one another.

Selena Gomez and The Weeknd

First hooking up in January 2017, Selena Gomez and The Weeknd (real name Abel Tesfaye) proved to be a couple to watch. The two were never shy about their love for one another, sharing sweet messages online and showing a whole lot of PDA in public. However, their romance didn't even make the one-year mark. In late October, news broke that Gomez and The Weeknd had called it quits

According to People, these celebs' busy schedules were at the root of their relationship issues. "She and Abel have been going back and forth for a few months about their relationship," a source told the magazine. "It's been hard with him being on tour and her shooting in New York. That wasn't easy on them."

We have to wonder if Gomez's ex-boyfriend, Justin Bieber, played a part in the break up because these former flames were spotted hanging out together just weeks before the split.

Bill Hader and Maggie Carey

The Saturday Night Live comedian and his writer-director wife ended their marriage after 11 years together. According to People, Bill Hader and Maggie Carey separated in July 2017, though news of their split didn't go public until November. The two share three daughters together: Hannah, Harper, and Hayley.

Jennifer Hudson and David Otunga

After a nearly nine-year engagement, American Idol alum Jennifer Hudson and retired pro wrestler David Otunga called it quits on their relationship—and it wasn't pretty.

TMZ reported that Hudson, who shares a son with Otunga, received a temporary restraining order against her former love in an effort to protect herself and their child. In court docs obtained by TMZ, Hudson claimed Otunga grabbed his son roughly by the hand and pushed Hudson out of a room. The behavior was an apparent response to his alleged belief that Hudson was romantically involved with a music producer.

Hudson also stated that Otunga had once left a gun and holster on their kitchen counter. Though he allegedly told his then-fiancée that it was a movie prop, Hudson said she believed he did it to threaten her, as she's experienced multiple gun-related tragedies in her life.

"David knows that I am and have been very sensitive to firearms after my mother and my brother were murdered by a firearm," Hudson said. "I believe that he left it out to taunt, intimidate and frighten me, which he absolutely accomplished."

FKA Twigs and Robert Pattinson

In late October, news broke that the Twilight actor and his singer girlfriend went their separate ways after more than two years together. According to People, Robert Pattinson and FKA Twigs (real name Tahliah Barnett) just couldn't juggle their chaotic professional lives.

"He is on a press tour and she is working on her new album. And I think it's timing," a source told the magazine. "They've been all over the place. They have not seen each other in probably two months."

While the same insider claimed the split hadn't been "vicious," it would appear that there's been trouble between these two for quite some time. Though Pattinson and Twigs reportedly became engaged in 2015, the actor told Howard Stern that he and his then-flame were only "kind of" engaged (via People).

Still, it seems possible the pair could reconcile in the future. "I think they will eventually get back together," said the insider for People. "He still loves her and I think that's the girl he wants to marry."

Jennifer Lawrence and Darren Aronofsky

Few suspected Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence would get together with director Darren Aronofsky, but that's just what happened after the two worked together on the 2017 film mother! Their relationship lasted a year before the pair called it quits, reportedly due, in part, to their 21-year age gap.

"There is a huge age difference, and they are different people," a source told People. "Each has to look practically to the future. Jen has yet to figure out her life and how it will evolve. He has responsibilities in life that she has yet to experience."

The generational divide between Lawrence and Aronofsky may not have been the only factor leading to their separation. Speaking with comedian Adam Sandler during Variety's Actors on Actors series, Lawrence revealed that bad reviews of mother! made things difficult for them. "I was doing double duty trying to be a supportive partner, while also being like, 'Can I please, for the love of God, not think about mother! for one second?'" she said.

Rosario Dawson and Eric Andre

Even the most obsessed Hollywood junkies may have missed the celeb couple that was actress Rosario Dawson and comedian Eric Andre, and they'd be forgiven, considering how Andre's friend, Chance the Rapper, didn't believe the two were actually dating until the Man Seeking Woman actor posted photos of his tongue touching Dawson's on social media (via USA Today.

They dated for about a year. "Rosario and Eric went their separate ways," a source told E! News in November 2017. "They are still friends and wish each other the best. They did have some great times together over the year as a couple."

These two appeared to be the real deal, particularly after Dawson talked about Andre taking care of her after an emergency surgery. She told The Late Show host Stephen Colbert: "He took care of me in an adult diaper. That is love."
