The Actress Who Played Gilly In Game Of Thrones Is Gorgeous In Real Life

Does anyone else miss HBO's Game of Thrones? For some fans, it feels like just yesterday that the final episode aired on May 19, 2019. And despite some criticism about the series finale, many viewers were pleased with the show overall.

Considering Game of Thrones occurred on the fictional continent of Westeros and in an alternate universe, many of its characters look different than their real-life counterparts. Not to mention, many characters spent their time running for their lives through dense forests and lands of perpetual winter, so they didn't exactly look glamorous during the show's eight seasons. One such character was Gilly. Remember her?

Gilly was one of the Free Folk who was the daughter of the horrible character named Craster, who lived beyond the Wall and had incestuous relationships with his daughters. She ran off with Samwell Tarly (John Bradley), who became the surrogate dad to her son. Because of Gilly's difficult life, she looked like she had been roughing it during her time on Thrones. However, the actress who plays Gilly, Hannah Murray, looks so different when she's not running from White Walkers to save her life.

Hannah Murray said Gilly's hardships gave her vulnerability

As you can see above, Hannah Murray looks completely different from her Game of Thrones character. Gilly was a beauty, of course, but there is a big difference between the character and Murray in terms of makeup. The actor looks incredible with a little eyeliner and pink lipstick!

Circling back to Murray's time on GOT, in an April 2019 interview with BUILD Series, she spoke at length about her character's relationships with Samwell Tarly. When Murray was asked about the pure love between Gilly and Samwell, she made a joke about the other relationships on the series, quipping, "We're kind of a rarity."

Murray added of the two characters, "They both come from very abusive childhoods in different ways but they both have these terrible, terrible father figures." She also mentioned how sorrow gave both of them an incredible vulnerability.

Murray first came into the spotlight for her 2007 role in Skins, according to The Telegraph, where she played the role of Cassie, a young girl who struggled with an eating disorder and mental health issues. She also starred in the 2014 film, God Help the Girl. However, Murray's big breakthrough was in Game of Thrones, where she played Gilly from 2012 to 2019.

Now that we've caught you up on Hannah Murray and her character of Gilly, here is all the other Game of Thrones actors who are gorgeous in real life.
