That's because in addition to sharing the spotlight for years, the two also share two daughters, Sam and Lola. In 2019, Richard joined the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, but she previously had her own show, Denise Richards: It's Complicatedand the title could not be more accurate, especially when it comes to her relationship with Sheen.

According to People, Richards and Sheen tied the knot in June 2002. They met two years prior while filming the movie Good Advicebut nothing romantic happened until Richards made guest appearances on Spin City in 2001. Their 2002 wedding took place in Brentwood, Calif.

The couple acted together again in the 2003 film Scary Movie 3, a movie that they promoted while Denise was pregnant with their first child. The couple revealed that their daughter Sam was born on March 9, 2004 during an April 2004 interview with People. It seemed like life couldn't be any better for Mr. & Mrs. Sheen. Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen's divorce played out while she was pregnant

In March 2005, E! News reported that Denise Richards cited "irreconcilable differences" when she filed for divorce from Charlie Sheen. The same month, Sheen's rep told People, "He did not cheat. He did not have a relapse. There is no scandal. He is not going into rehab. Sometimes marriages don't work. It's as simple as that." Sheen himself added, "These stories and allegations are unconscionable. The reason for our separation is a private matter between us." An "inside source" claimed Sheen moved out of their home a few weeks before she filed for divorce.

People reported that Richards gave birth to Lola on June 1, 2005, with her estranged husband in the delivery room. They briefly reconciled, however, Richards' rep confirmed to Us Weekly (via Hollywood.com) that she took an HIV test in January 2006 after learning that Sheen cheated on her.

In April 2006, TMZ obtained court documents that Richards filed against Sheen. She claimed he pushed her, threatened to kill her, and threatened her parents, allegations that he denied. She requested and was granted a restraining order. Richards also claimed that his "alleged pornography and prostitution habits" were a risk to their children.

People reported that Richards claimed Sheen "hit her on the wrist and shoved her in the stomach" when she discovered porn sites featuring "very young girls." He told the magazine her claims were "vile" and "baseless." In November 2006, Access reported that their divorce was finalized.

Richards told Rolling Stone in June 2012, "He and I are like best friends now. Confidants. He tells me everything." Sheen added, "And we sleep in separate rooms. Everybody's going to want to know that, too."

In May 2013, People reported Sheen's ex-wife Brooke Mueller battled drug addiction and lost custody of their then-4-year-old twins, Bob and Max. They temporarily moved in with Richards and her daughters. A source close to Sheen told People, "he's got a crazy work schedule, filming two shows a week and would rather they spend time with Denise and their daughters than with a nanny at his empty house."

In November 2013, Richards told the Department of Children and Family Services that she no longer wanted to take care of the twins, according to TMZ. Richards said the boys acted out after visiting their mom, hurting her dogs and her daughters.
