This Is The Real Cause Of Meghan's Feud With Kate

Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle's friendship seemed doomed from the start. While Meghan's recent lawsuit with British tabloids proves that the media was vicious towards her from the get-go, news outlets seemed likewise interested in spreading the idea that the two women were always feuding.

While part of this was media cruelty and an unnecessary emphasis on negativity surrounding Meghan's early initiation into royal life, there was some validity to the coverage that Meghan and Kate didn't seem to get along. According to The Telegraph, trouble started brewing before Meghan's wedding to Prince Harry. One of the biggest incidents was in 2018, only a few weeks before their nuptials, when Kate was seen in tears, leaving a dress fitting for her daughter, Charlotte, who was a young bridesmaid at Meghan's wedding.

Since that incident, people have noticed other issues between the two women, especially the fact that Kate wasn't a bridesmaid at Meghan's wedding. Things have escalated since, after Meghan and Harry stepped down from their royal duties, leaving Kate and William with an even larger workload.

While all of these issues have spiralled out from the now-infamous dress fitting for little Charlotte, we've found out what caused the rift on that fated day and you won't believe what it was!

Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle's feud began over tights

There was a fight between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton prior to Meghan's wedding in May 2018. While sources knew that Kate left the dress fitting in tears, people didn't know why until now. According to The Telegraph, the disagreement was about whether the young bridesmaids should wear tights. Kate and William's daughter, Charlotte, who was three-years-old at the time of the wedding, was one of Meghan's young bridesmaids.

Kate wanted to follow protocol, according to The Daily Mail, but Meghan disagreed. According to the outlet, "It was a hot day and apparently there was a row over whether the bridesmaids should wear tights or not." Kate felt it would be appropriate for them to wear tights but Meghan "didn't want them to." Meanwhile, The Daily Mail points out that at William and Kate's wedding in April 2011, all of the young bridesmaids were wearing tights but at Meghan's wedding, they were not.

The Telegraph points out, though, that it was a difficult time for Kate, as she "had only just given birth to Prince Louis and was feeling quite emotional." Despite this, it seems like the small detail with the bridesmaids' outfits caused a long-lasting rupture. But was their friendship doomed from the start?

Meghan and Kate are too different

The issue around Charlotte's tights at Meghan Markle's wedding is indicative of a larger difference between Meghan and Kate Middleton. According to The Blast, the two women approach the world with completely opposite attitudes. Kate is consistently quiet, respectful and poised while Meghan embodies "a more confident, exertive, and no nonsense personality."

This sharp difference between the two women was precisely what made Meghan's arrival into royal life so difficult. According to Us Weekly, Meghan felt that Kate set a very high standard but also a very particular standard that Meghan simply couldn't embody, which left her feeling out of the public's good graces. "Meghan has this sense of isolation being in the U.K., subject to cruel British media. Her hands are tied and she isn't allowed to defend herself. It has been very difficult," according to Us Weekly.

Not only that, but as Meghan's relationship with Harry became more serious, there was unnecessary pressure on the two women to become very close right away. According to People, "There was undue pressure where the whole world wanted them to be best friends."

These stressors were around when Harry and Meghan were still expected to live in England and partake in the royal duties. Now that they're gone, Kate and William are absolutely wiped out by the larger workload.

Kate Middleton feels exhausted

It was evident something was wrong when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle appeared at Westminster Abbey for the Commonwealth Day service, according to Vanity Fair. When Kate Middleton and her husband, Prince William, entered, the body language became decidedly icy between the couples. Kate, especially, was hit hard by their decision to leave royal life and according to Vanity Fair, a source said: "Possibly [Kate] was tired but she didn't look overjoyed. To be honest I think Kate has taken it all badly... [S]he thinks what has happened is all very sad."

Since Harry and Meghan decided to step back from royal life and move to California, Kate and William have had to pick up the slack. According to The Daily Mail, "Kate is furious about the larger workload."

Since the pandemic has hit, Kate and William have been getting inventive, along with the rest of the world, by keeping up with meetings and appearances through online meetings. So during the coronavirus, Kate has still had to maintain a public and appropriate persona. According to The Daily Mail, "Of course [Kate's] smiling and dressing appropriately but she doesn't want this. She feels exhausted and trapped."

According to The Daily Mail, royal sources said that reports of Kate feeling exhausted are false and that she and William are handling the pandemic as well as anyone. We certainly hope so, but there's no doubt losing Harry and Meghan must be a blow to them.
