She then met Geoffrey Paschal online, and the two hoped Varya would move to Tennessee one day. If this does end up happening, Varya might need to rethink her straightforward personality. Case in point: In June 2020, Varya recalled a moment when she offended a Tennessee cab driver by joking about "rednecks" and "moonshine." Yikes. The driver did not appreciate her humor, with the host concluding on Instagram, "Americans can be very resentful of sharp, but honest statements. Maybe that is why they consider the Russians brutally honest."
