Here's Gwyneth Paltrow's Least Favorite Movie She's Ever Done

Gwyneth Paltrow has been in a number of TV shows and movies during her career. Some she's loved, some she's disliked, and some, well, she's completely forgotten about. When it comes to Paltrow's least favorite movie, though, the actress isn't shy about sharing her opinion.

Paltrow has shared her feelings on her least favorite film a couple times actually. The movie in question is Shallow Hal, where Paltrow played the main love interest — and the role required her to wear a fat suit. While promoting her Netflix show Goop Lab in February 2020, Paltrow and her best friend Kevin Keating teamed up to make a YouTube video, where she quizzed him on how well he knows her.

When she asked her pal what her least favorite role was, Keating knew the answer was definitely Shallow Hal. When he provided Paltrow with that answer, she shook her head a little bit and called the job a "disaster." Ouch!

In the 2001 movie, Paltrow stars alongside Jack Black, whose character only wants to date the most physically appealing (i.e. conventionally attractive) women. His shallowness gets the best of him, and he gets a hex put on him where he sees people's inner beauty instead. In comes Paltrow, who plays a curvy woman. Black's character, Hal, sees her as gorgeous (and minus all the curves) and falls in love with this version of her.

As the title suggests, the film is, well, shallow, to say the least.

Gwyneth Paltrow hasn't even seen all the movies she's been in

Back in 2001, Gwyneth Paltrow mentioned in a W magazine story (via ABC News) that she felt humiliated by the fat suit she wore in Shallow Hal. "The first day I tried [the fat suit] on, I was in the Tribeca Grand [hotel in New York City] and I walked through the lobby. It was so sad; it was so disturbing. No one would make eye contact with me because I was obese," she said. The suit Paltrow wore weighed 25 pounds, according to the article, but made Paltrow appear about triple her size.

Shallow Hal garnered mixed reviews. Some viewers enjoyed it, while outlets like Rolling Stone said the directors, Bobby and Peter Farrelly, should be embarrassed by their crudeness in the film. The movie currently has a 50% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, but Paltrow doesn't seem to be budging on her disdain for it.

But at least Paltrow knows she was in Shallow Hal, which is more than she can say for some of other movies. The actress has forgotten a couple of her Marvel appearances and openly admitted to not seeing the finished films. She told Elle in 2019, "It is confusing because there are so many Marvel movies, and to be honest, I haven't seen very many of them. It's really stupid and I'm sorry, but I'm a 47-year-old mother."

So, what's worse — hating a movie or not even remembering it?
