The Real Reason Marie Osmond Is Leaving The Talk
Talk shows with more than one female host have really dominated daytime television. Along with The Real and The View, The Talk has become a fan favorite. The CBS talk show has had quite a few cast changes since its debut in October 2010. Over the years, The Talk has been hosted by familiar faces like Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Leah Remini, Eve and Carrie Ann Inaba. In 2019, Gilbert departed the group, promptly being replaced by Marie Osmond — a repeated guest host across the 10 seasons, per Variety.
"It is such a joy for me to be joining The Talk in September [2019]. After guest co-hosting and appearing as a guest on the show throughout the years, I am thrilled to now call this my day job," Osmond said after the switcheroo was announced (via Variety). "I look forward to working with Sharon, Sheryl, Eve and Carrie Ann, who are such smart, strong, talented women whom I immensely respect. I cannot wait to share this exciting new chapter with the viewers and the CBS family."
However, the excitement didn't last long as Osmond announced her own departure from the show in August 2020 after just one season. Keep scrolling to learn why.
Marie Osmond has her own show in the works
Marie Osmond's full-time stint on The Talk was very short lived. According to Deadline, Osmond simply has other projects to attend to. For one, her own show with ViacomCBS.
"One of the highlights of my year at The Talk was working with my dear friend [longtime executive producer and showrunner] John Redmann, and I'm excited to continue our working relationship on several projects we are developing," she said in August 2020 (via Deadline). "Also, my husband and I just dropped our last two kids off at college, we looked at each other, laughed and remembered we hadn't been this alone together since 1982!! So, at this stage of my life, I'm looking forward to spending more time with him and visiting all the kids/grandkids."
Redmann is also saying goodbye to the daytime talk show, per Deadline, so it seems a couple of new slots have opened up on staff. As of this writing, it is unclear who will be replacing Redmann and Osmond.
