Famous People Who Can't Stand Fantasia Barrino

Back in May 2004, Fantasia Barrino's life was forever changed when she won the third season of American Idol. Although the competition was formidable, with Jennifer Hudson and runner-up Diana DeGarmo also fighting for the title, Barrino's backstory and her incredible voice propelled the young mother to the front of the pack.

After American Idol, Barrino went on to write a best-selling memoir, Life Is Not a Fairy Tale. She also starred in the Lifetime TV movie based on the book, with Academy Award winner Viola Davis playing her mom, Diane Barrino.

Barrino has released seven studio albums since Idol, and she's gained plenty of respect from industry giants, too. For instance, Patti LaBelle adores Barrino and the "I Believe" singer has paid tribute to the legendary artist by performing her songs over the years. But not everyone feels the same way, as there have been reports of conflict between Barrino and other celebrities. It's to be expected in Hollywood, of course — no one can please everyone!

With that said, here are a few other famous people who reportedly haven't always been fans of the American Idol winner.

Fantasia Barrino and Jennifer Hudson 'bumped heads' behind the scenes of American Idol

In an interview with MTV News in April 2004, singer Jennifer Hudson expressed disappointment over her elimination from American Idol's third season. "I don't think it was based on talent, but if it was, I was robbed," she told the outlet. However, Hudson assured fans that she accepted the results because she "did what [she] came to do" and that this conclusion was simply "meant to be."

In a 2007 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Barrino also noted that she and the Academy Award winner "bumped heads and had words" when they first met. The American Idol winner also told EW that she'd auditioned for Hudson's role in Dreamgirls. "I was a little hurt," Barrino admitted. "I had stayed up late reading that script, trying to get Effie in my spirit. I worked so hard. But it wasn't for me."

But it's worth noting that all of this seems to be water under the bridge for these two. In the same EW interview, Barrino praised Hudson, calling her "my girl." Barrino and Hudson are both stars in their own right, and it doesn't look like there's any lingering bad blood.

Fantasia Barrino and Keyshia Cole didn't get along while touring with Kanye West

In 2005, both Fantasia Barrino and Keyshia Cole opened for rapper Kanye West on his Touch the Sky Tour, but it doesn't sound like they were the best of friends. According to Empressive TV, Cole introduced Barrino as "the girl that won American Idol" when guest-hosting BET's 106 & Park. Barrino reportedly wasn't thrilled with that description, as Idol was a year in the past and she'd already released a platinum album, the outlet explained.

Cole also told Hollywood Unlocked (via Empressive TV)that someone in the music industry had "tried to run up on" her. While Cole never called Barrino out by name in the interview, Empressive TV reported that the mystery person was, in fact, Barrino and that the incident occurred at some point during West's tour. However, as Empressive TV also pointed out, Fantasia told VIBE Vixen in 2007 that she and Cole "had some words," but the conversation was "nothing like a fight." The outlet also highlighted that the two singers have joined forces to perform together since the reported incident, so it seems like the whole thing is behind them now.

Fantasia Barrino didn't hold back at Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker's wedding

Fantasia Barrino was a bridesmaid at Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss' April 2014 wedding to Todd Tucker. The American Idol winner reportedly gave a foul-mouthed speech at the wedding, calling Burruss the "realest b***h I know" and apparently dropping an F-bomb. Burruss' rep told TMZ that the housewife loved Barrino's speech, but a source told the National Enquirer (per the St. Louis American) that "Todd was furious" about the speech. "The other bridesmaids got Fantasia to sit down. Thank goodness," the source told the tabloid, adding that Barrino's microphone was also supposedly taken away before she even finished.

But it sounds like Barrino's speech was all in good fun and that the bride didn't mind her bridesmaid's choice of words. (It was still a positive speech, after all!) In fact, as Burruss' rep noted, the bride laughed along with Barrino. At the time, though, there were tabloid reports that the expletive-laden speech could cause a rift in the two stars' friendship. Thankfully, that doesn't seem to have been the case!

While there have been reports about supposed "beefs" between Barrino and other celebs, it seems like she's pretty well-respected in the industry. And, of course, there's no denying Barrino's vocal talent, which speaks for itself.
