Paris Hilton And Lindsay Lohan Aren't Friends Anymore. Here's Why

In November 2006, the New York Post ran a now-infamous cover featuring Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, and Britney Spears crammed into a car leaving a nightclub in Los Angeles. The Post dubbed the gathering a "bimbo summit." The photo is one of the defining images of 2000s pop culture, featuring the three women that dominated the tabloids for a decade and changed what it really meant to be famous.

Of course, everyone knows more or less how this story ended. Spears went through a very public breakdown and was placed in a conservatorship that still exists today; Lohan had several run-ins with the law, damaging her acting career in the process; and Hilton's reality TV star faded into the era of the Kardashians. But while Hilton and Spears remain friends, with Hilton speaking out on Spears' behalf as recently as September 2020, it seems there's nothing but bad blood remaining between Hilton and Lohan. Here's what supposedly drove a wedge between the famous friends.

Paris HIlton's pal gave Lindsay Lohan an awful nickname

In the mid-2000s, it seemed like Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan were tight as could be, but that dynamic appeared to shift in 2006, when Lohan began dating Hilton's ex-boyfriend, Greek shipping heir Stavros Niarchos. Around that time, Hilton and her friends reportedly started trashing Lohan in the press.

While leaving Janet Jackson's birthday party, oil heir Brandon Davis, a friend of Hilton's, told the paparazzi: "I think [Lohan's] worth about $7 million, which means she's really poor. It's disgusting. She lives in a motel." According to E! News, Davis also gave Lohan the infamous, derogatory nickname "fire crotch." Hilton was with Davis at the time and laughed at his nasty comments, but she didn't technically say anything herself. Even so, those comments made huge headlines, and Hilton's publicist responded with a statement: "It is unfair to characterize Brandon's statements as being reflective of Paris' feelings about Lindsay." Davis also apologized, but that did nothing to calm what the press viewed as a brewing storm between Lohan and Hilton.

Were Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton ever that close?

After Brandon Davis' severe comments about her, Lindsay Lohan had a thing or two to say — or not say — about Paris Hilton's infamous sex tape. Shortly after the video made huge headlines, Lohan gave an interview with Elle magazine, in which she said, "I still have not seen it. I will never see it." She added, "Obviously, [Hilton] is very comfortable making videos." To make matters even more awkward, Hilton was later seen out with Lohan's ex, the late musician Harry Morton, and not long after that, Lohan called Paris a c*** to the paparazzi

By this point, there was obviously bad blood between Lohan and Hilton, but were they ever really that close to begin with? That iconic 2006 photo of Hilton, Lohan, and Britney Spears smiling in a car together may not have been as chummy as it appeared to the press at the time. In 2018, Hilton talked about that paparazzi pic with Andy Cohen (via Us Weekly). "Well, Britney and I went out for the night ... We were at an afterparty and then Britney and I wanted to leave to go home. And then [Lindsay] started, like, chasing us, and then squeezed into the car," Hilton said. She claimed she only let Lohan remain in the vehicle because she didn't want to "humiliate her in front of all the paparazzi."

Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton never really made amends

The night the New York Post cover was shot in 2006 may have been the height of their relationship, if not the height of Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton's fame, in general. Though they certainly aren't photographed together these days, that has not stopped Hilton from talking about Lohan when given the chance.

In 2018, Hilton told talk show host Andy Cohen (via Us Weekly) that although she and Lohan were friends at one point, "She is just, like, one of those people I just don't really trust. I only like to be around positive energy and good people." Ouch!

In June 2017, Lohan reportedly invited Hilton and Britney Spears to her birthday party in Greece, but neither attended. Not long after, Hilton took another shot at Lohan on Instagram after the aforementioned video of Lohan calling Paris a c*** resurfaced online. Hilton reportedly left the following comment on the post: "#PathologicalLiar."

So there you have it. Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton probably won't be scheduling spa days together anytime soon, but if Hollywood ever makes another Mean Girls movie, these two should totally try out for a part.
