In March 2020, Brad Paisley and Kimberly Williams-Paisley opened a free grocery store. The Store serves Nashville residents experiencing food insecurity and financial hardship. When The Store broke ground in 2019, the couple even received a shout-out from President Obama on Twitter: "Here's a story about people doing good that's worth sharing: [Brad Paisley] and his wife [Kimberly Williams-Paisley] saw food insecurity in Nashville and decided to do something about it. They just broke ground on a free grocery store to help families in need." The country star replied to the 44th president's tweet in typical fashion" "Thank you! Oh, and retirees like yourself often get obsessed with lawns & landscaping. So, when you need a backhoe operator, I've just gone pro."

The Store was set to open in April 2020, but it opened early because of the financial hardship caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. In a USA Today interview, Brad reflected on the need for a free grocery store: "We needed to feed people more than ever."
