The Real Reason Paul And Karine Weren't In The 90 Day Fiance Tell-All

Viewers first met 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?'s Paul Staehle and Karine Martins in Season 1 of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days back in 2017. The couple, who was based in Brazil at the time, got married in 2017 and also appeared in the second season of the show. The two originally met on a dating app while Paul was living in Kentucky and he flew down to Brazil for Karine, according to Reality TV World.

The couple also appeared on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way and welcomed a baby boy named Pierre in 2018. Things for the two haven't been easy, though. Right before their child was born, Reality TV World reports that Karine threatened to file for divorce from Paul. "Karine couldn't stand how Paul lost his temper and would argue with her over other men, and the pair's dire financial situation always put more stress on them and created tension" the outlet noted.

The divorce threat was touched on at the beginning of their season of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, when Karine and her mom were seen leaving their Brazilian town by boat to file for divorce. Fast forward to the most recent season of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? and the tell-all special, where Paul and Karine were noticeably absent. So, what happened?

Paul and Karine have been struggling with marital problems

Entertainment Tonight did a deep-dive into why Paul Staehle and Karine Martins weren't a part of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?'s tell-all special in early October 2020 and it turns out their marital problems haven't simmered at all. 90 Day Fiancé host Shaun Robinson told ET that they chose not to include them because the couple has continued to have issues. "Paul convinced [Karine] to move to America so he could get a better job and provide for her and their 1-year-old son, Pierre, though life in the United States was nothing like Karine expected," ET reported.

Fed up, Karine tried to figure out a way back to Brazil with just Pierre. The couple has also fired off Instagram Stories about the other, with Karine alleging that the police had to be called against Paul, and Paul claiming Karine was missing with their son, according to ET. It was all this unrest that caused TLC to not include them in the tell-all special.

"Yeah, you know the situation between Paul and Karine is a very complicated and sensitive one, so when we were about to do the Tell-All, their situation was very fresh, and so we wanted to give them the space to really work through that," Robinson told ET. Hopefully the time away from cameras allows that to happen.
