Noah Cyrus' Risqué Outfit At The CMT Awards Has People Talking

Jimmie Allen and Noah Cyrus joined forces to give a lovely performance at the 2020 CMT Awards. The vocals were on point, but the Twittersphere had mixed reviews on her outfit. She had long, jet black hair. She rocked a cowboy hat, which makes sense since it's the CMT Awards, after all. She wore tall, white boots, which again, is pretty on-brand for a country event. She even threw on some white gloves. Normally, accessories complement an outfit, but in this case, the accessories are the majority of the outfit. As far as the clothing goes, the singer wore a flesh colored bodysuit with a bejeweled bra top and thong over it.

Cyrus was exuding Cher vibes for sure. However, one viewer made it clear they didn't quite believe when they tweeted, "What the hell was Noah Cyrus wearing??? So not appropriate! And she's no Cher!!!" (There can be only one Cher-lander, but imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right?) Unsurprisingly, some Twitter users also mentioned Noah's sister Miley Cyrus. "Not a fan of @noahcyrus performance," one person remarked. "I feel like she is trying to be like her sister. Plus, her outfit was inappropriate!! @CMT." Someone else declared, "Dang Noah Cyrus took a page outta Miley's playbook with that #CMTAwards outfit."

Noah's look got good reviews and bad reviews, but, most importantly, it had people talking, which is the point of performing at an award show, right?

Noah Cyrus is all grown up now

Noah Cyrus is known as Miley Cyrus' little sister and Billy Ray Cyrus' youngest child, but she's not a little kid anymore. This is something she made abundantly clear when she stepped out on the CMA Awards stage in that outfit. One fan tweeted, "Noah Cyrus is 20-year-old and all grown up now."

Of course, there were some critics. One person asked, "Anyone else confused on what Noah Cyrus is wearing???!" Yes, and plenty of people tweeted about their confusion, asking, "What the heck is Noah Cyrus wearing at the CMT awards?"

The look got a lot of criticism, but some people did appreciate her ensemble. One person said she was "Lowkey obsessed with @noahcyrus's outfit." Another applauded the singer for being comfortable to rock the look, tweeting, "everyone is heated about @noahcyrus outfit tonight but honestly I loved it and wish I had that kind of confidence."

Some people dug the ensemble, others didn't, but most importantly, Noah made an impression on the CMA audience, which is a win.

Noah Cyrus says being Miley Cyrus' sister is 'unbearable'

Although some fans hated on Noah Cyrus' outfit because it reminded them of something her sister Miley Cyrus might have worn onstage, the two sisters have a complicated relationship. For instance, Noah once said it was "unbearable" growing up in her sister's shadow in an Instagram Live, via Harpers Bazaar. She went on to explain how she addresses this relationship in a song called "Young and Sad" on her EP, The End of Everything. The young singer said, "Being born in the family I was in, everybody gave me such a hard time for having a hard time being Miley's little sister, but I always felt like I was that person that no one gave a s*** about due to what people said to me online."

She added, "It was absolutely unbearable. And that's why I write, 'My sister's like sunshine / Always bringing good light wherever she'll go / And I was born to rain clouds / Blessed in her shadows.' Because that's why everybody always says to me, that no matter what, I was going to be in that shadow. And I always believed that, and that's so hard for me to overcome." So, uh, maybe don't point out that her fashion choices are super Miley, OK?

Noah Cyrus wants to be her own person

Just because Noah and Miley Cyrus are both singers and make similar, bold, fashion choices doesn't mean that the two don't get along, though. They are reportedly close, although Miley claims that Noah is the worst when it comes to texting her back. If you want to criticize Noah, or her sister, for their risqué fashion sense, it won't hold them down.

Although it was rough growing up seeing her family in the tabloids, Miley's little sister is proud to carry on her family's legacy through music, all while making it her own. She said in an interview with tmrw, via Billboard, "I've always understood that I had a 'powerful' last name, or a well-known last name, so that's not really what I wanted to be tied to. I always wanted to be tied to Noah."

They might be related, but they are definitely not the same person. Even if their body suits and bejeweled crop tops say otherwise.
