Tyra Banks Reportedly Doesn't Want Certain Celebs To Compete On DWTS

Hmm, is Tyra Banks adding more changes to Dancing with the Stars? The new host and executive producer of ABC's hit reality dance competition show replaced longtime hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews back in the summer of 2020. And since stepping into their big shoes, she is "reportedly taking the role very seriously" by setting new rules on who can compete for the beloved mirrorball trophy.

OK! reported in October 2020 that Banks is supposedly banning Real Housewives from the ballroom because she "thinks the show needs to aim higher." A source claimed to the outlet, "Tyra has never been a fan of the Housewives, but the real reason she doesn't want them on her show is that Bethenny Frankel, NeNe Leakes, and Teresa Giudice do not make headlines anymore." The news came after several Real Housewives' stars have "already made it clear that they would love to put on their dancing shoes." Yikes!

So, how is the rumored new rule with casting sitting with Real Housewives? Keep reading to hear what one of Bravo's leading ladies had to say about the situation.

'RHOP's Ashley Darby spoke out

Tyra Banks' allegedly new announcement for Dancing with the Stars is drawing a lot of attention from the cast of Bravo's Real Housewives. After rumors started circling that Banks won't allow Bravo's Housewives to compete on DWTS, RHWOP's Ashely Darby took to Instagram to share her thoughts on the matter. Celebrity Insider reported that Darby replied to the news by posting "a well-synced fan-made video to her profile of her dance scenes alongside a caption that read, "Hearing that RHs are allegedly 'banned' from performing on #DWTS was a bummer, but I still have my eyes on the prize! I'll be on that dance floor one day!'"

The outlet also argued that "Tyra may want to reconsider [the banning] because Bravolebrities have recently been earning the attention of celebrities like Rihanna."

And if Bravo's Real Housewives are getting hype from A-list stars, then it sounds like Banks is missing out on a big opportunity when it comes to viewership by this rumored rule. However, who knows whether she has any say in casting decisions.
