Why Bachelorette Star Yosef Aborady Is Sparking Controversy

Clare Crawley's season of The Bachelorette, which first aired October 2020, has one contestant who is being touted as the villain — and has been sparking controversy at every turn.

Yosef Aborady — a medical salesman and father to a young daughter, according to his official ABC bio — made enough controversial and questionable statements even at the beginning of the series that he was quickly labeled Season 16's "villain." In Episode 1 and 2, as well as in the season's promo clips, Yosef can be seen stirring up drama amongst both the contestants and with Clare herself. What exactly did this potential suitor do to warrant such a reaction from his fellow castmates and others?

Well, from allegedly messaging women on social media to feuding with Clare in a promo clip, here's everything you need to know about why Yosef Aborady is one of the most controversial contestants of The Bachelorette's sixteenth season.

Yosef Aborady is shady off-camera and on

Right off the bat, fans knew Yosef Aborady was going to be trouble. Another contestant, Tyler Cottrill, confronted Yosef on the very first night, alleging that he had been messaging another woman on social media while production was on pause, E! News reports. (Yosef denied these allegations.)

Around the same time, on Oct. 13, 2020, a woman named Carly Hammond posted a series of TikTok videos recounting her relationship with a Bachelorette contestant and describing him as a player. Blogger Reality Steve confirmed that Carly was in fact referring to Yosef and he had seen the texts between them.

In the first TikTok clip, Carly alleged Yosef talked to her all the time and even discussed "having a family and having kids and getting married" before sending a NSFW Snapchat to someone else.

It seems as if Yosef may have a shady side, making his dedication to Clare questionable from the start. The drama does not stop there, though. In a trailer for the show,  he was supposedly the contestant who said he "expected more from the oldest Bachelorette," as per Refinery29.

Yosef also had some words to say about the game of strip dodgeball the men on the group date played. Although he was not on the date, Cheat Sheet reports that he was offended Clare made the men strip. "It just seemed classless," Yosef said. "It just left a really bad taste in my mouth."
