Inside Sumit's Messy Legal Battle With His Estranged Wife On 90 Day Fiance
Sumit Singh and Jenny Slatten haven't had it easy on 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way, and it's largely due to Sumit's estranged wife. Their union is the result of an arranged marriage, and Sumit wants out so he and Jenny can be together, free and clear, but unfortunately, the divorce is dragging on. None of it has been easy for the 90 Day Fiancé couple.
Sumit has openly discussed how the arranged marriage has been hard on his mental health, according to Entertainment Tonight, who reported on an early October 2020 episode of the show. While Sumit was discussing with his parents how hard the arranged marriage was for him, he said, "I was the one who was suffering. I told you three times that I wanted to commit suicide. I am your son."
What Sumit wants is to spend his life with Jenny, but until divorce proceedings are settled, they can't get married. And the divorce proceedings have been unfortunately messy.

Before Jenny Slatten and Sumit Singh from 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way can get married, Sumit has to get out of his arranged marriage. According to Entertainment Tonight, though, the legal proceedings and the money owed have been a lot for Sumit to handle. Not only was the divorce reportedly going to cost him $20,000, but his estranged wife was seeking $500 a month in spousal support. His estranged wife also reportedly accused him of physical abuse, which ET reported Sumit "vehemently denied."
Fortunately when Sumit showed up in court, the charges were dropped, and he shared that these types of charges and proceedings were common in India as a "tactic to get more money," according to ET. Jenny was understandably relieved and said, "I just need this divorce to go through so we can get married, once and for all."
When Jenny tried to give Sumit a promise ring on the Oct. 25, 2020 episode of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, though, it didn't exactly go over well. He calmly shut her down, pointing out that they have a plan to get married and do it all the right way, so she asked for the ring back. As awkward as it might have been to watch, we're hopeful these two are on their way to their happily ever after.
