Jamie Lynn Spears Spills Details About The Zoey 101 Revival

Are you ready? The students of Pacific Coast Academy we soon be back (and better than ever!) for the revival of Zoey 101. This childhood gem was a Nickelodeon staple, ranking as the highest performing series premiere of its time. The show, which aired from 2005 to 2008, was cancelled after only three seasons because its star, Jamie Lynn Spears, became pregnant during filming. For many Zoey 101 stans, the show's abrupt end was not taken lightly. Unfortunately, we never got the full closure we needed with Zoey Brooks and Chase Matthews' relationship.

Over a decade later, fans got the chance to indulge in nostalgia with the Zoey 101 cast in a reunion special via Zoom. The Oct. 25, 2020 live stream featured Spears alongside fan favorite OG students Chase Matthews, Logan Reese, Quinn Pensky, and Michael Barrett — played by Sean Flynn, Matthew Underwood, Erin Sanders, and Chris Massey respectively. If that wasn't enough of a blast from the past already, the best part of the live stream was the debut music video for the remixed version of the Zoey 101 theme song (via YouTube). The music video, starring JoJo Siwa, Sofia Reyes, Dixie D'Amelio, and Noah Beck, offered fans a little taste of what they can expect from the reboot's scheduled premiere in 2021, per E! News. Prior to its debut, Spears spilled some tea on what's to come. Here's everything you need to know about the Zoey 101 revival.

Viewers can expect 'crazy twists and turns' from the Zoey 101 reboot

Since Zoey 101's end in 2008, there has been buzz about whether the show would make a comeback or not. Talk of the series' revival began in 2015 after TeenNick aired a revival short featuring characters Chase and Michael. After reuniting with the rest of the cast for an episode of All That in 2019 (per Entertainment Tonight), Jamie Lynn Spears told The Hollywood Reporter in May 2020 that a reboot was in the works, just not with Nickelodeon. "Everything and anything is on the table, whether that's a movie or a series," Spears said. "In all of the discussions I've had with Nickelodeon — which are in baby stages, by the way — the main thing is figuring out the right home for the reboot."

Spears also told On Air With Ryan Seacrest that the reboot will have a ton of surprises, including an all grown-up Zoey Brooks. "We are in the creative part right now, figuring out where Zoey is and where the castmates from PCA are and figuring out how do we tell that story in a modern way for young adults?" Spears said. "It's a fine line of making the OG Zoey 101 fans very happy and also inviting the new ones to come in and feel like they're part of the world as well... We've heard some pretty crazy twists and turns that we're like, 'We don't think Zoey would go there?' So I'm telling you there's plenty of surprises up our sleeve."

We'll be tuning in, for sure. Will you?
