Julia Garner Looks Like A Different Person In Her New Netflix Role
Julia Garner's curly blonde hair has become her signature style, so it comes to no surprise that fans were collectively shocked to see her rocking a whole new —and unrecognizable — look while filming her new Netflix show, Inventing Anna. The actor, who's best known for her breakout role as Ruth Langmore on Ozark, was cast in the highly-anticipated, Shonda Rhimes-produced limited series based on Jessica Pressler's 2018 The Cut article "How Anna Delvey Tricked New York's Party People." The story follows the life of socialite Anna Delvey (real name: Anna Sorokin), who quickly became the talk of the town after she rebranded herself as a wealthy heiress to con her way into New York's elite inner circle. Garner will play the titular "socialite"/con artist.
Netflix has yet to announce a release date for Inventing Anna and, as The Hollywood Reporter noted, production was put on hold for a while due to the global pandemic. However, as Town & Country reported, production has recently resumed, and paparazzi captured photos of Garner's new character while she filmed scenes on the streets of New York City. Keep scrolling to find out about her look.
Julia Garner plays her new role as a socialite to perfection
Julia Garner was spotted filming scenes for Inventing Anna in New York City in November 2020, offering fans a sneak peak at her character Anna Delvey's costume choices and the star's unrecognizable new hairstyle. In photos obtained by Looper, the Emmy award-winning actor traded in her short curly hair for a long and straight hairstyle. She is also in an extravagant outfit, complete with a red designer handbag and black leather gloves.
But wait, there's more! The Daily Mail also published photos of Garner with bright red hair and wearing a purple pantsuit. Both these hair 'dos are far from what fans of the Ozark star are used to; Garner's short, curly blonde hairstyle has become her calling card.
No need to worry, for Garner's golden curls will likely be back when she reprises her role as the sassy and smart Ruth Langmore in the final season of Ozark, which was renewed back in June 2020.
