The Real Reason Shep Rose Almost Left Southern Charm
The beloved Bravo show Southern Charm would not be the same without everyone's favorite smooth talker Shep Rose, but the reality star revealed he came very close to throwing in the towel following the drama on Season 6.
"Last season was hard for me, and I'm not pointing fingers because I've pointed them at myself, as well," he said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight on Nov. 4, 2020. "I was disillusioned. I talked to Cameran [Eubanks] and was like, 'I don't think I want to do this anymore,' just because of social media. ... It's just hard when people are hammering you ... [and] it's hard to block everything out."
Thankfully, Shep didn't join the list of former Southern Charmers, including Cameran, Naomie Olindo, and Chelsea Meissner, but Season 6 was definitely messy for the heartthrob. Shep was at odds with Madison LeCroy after she accused him of giving Danni Baird an STD (both Shep and Danni denied that allegation.) In response to Madison's intrusion, Shep brought two women to a group event who may have hooked up with Madison's boyfriend, Austen Kroll. Can you say drama? Shep was slammed on social media after his actions played out on the show.

Shep Rose hoped Cameran Eubanks would stay
Following Season 6, the show took an extended break in filming due to the coronavirus pandemic. That allowed members of the cast more time to contemplate their fates on the hit Bravo show. Cameran Eubanks confirmed she was leaving Southern Charm in May 2020, and that nearly convinced Shep Rose to do the same, per Us Weekly.
"Cameran always signs up at the last second, she's always like, 'I want to get out,' and then she does it and we have a ball," Shep told Entertainment Tonight. "This season, I don't think she sort of liked last season. I don't think she liked the tone of it — I sure didn't, but I wanted to ... continue and sort of let my soul shine through, hopefully. So, that was kind of my determining factor. I was like, let's do this again, because we can do it better."
Despite Cameran's departure, Shep decided the show must go on. He said he prepared for Season 7 by going to therapy to make peace with the previous season. "We're all going to bury our head in our hands in certain moments, but as long as it's an even flow, and it peaks and troughs and stuff, then I can deal with it," he said.
