The Real Reason Chelsea Houska Left Teen Mom 2

After nine years on MTV, original Teen Mom 2 cast member Chelsea Houska is leaving the show. Chelsea confirmed the news via an Instagram post on the morning of Nov. 9, 2020. "MTV's Teen Mom 2 has been a big part of my life for almost 11 years. After much thought and discussion with my family and friends, Cole and I have decided that this season will be our last," she said. Fans first met Cole DeBoer in 2014 and watched their romance blossom, and they are now married with a son, a daughter, and a baby girl on the way, according to People. Chelsea also has a daughter, Aubree, from a previous relationship.

The news came after Chelsea's father, Randy Houska, seemingly spilled the beans about his daughter's departure from the show. "Well kids, that's a wrap. Been a fun run on @MTV @TeenMom What's next? Seriously, tho, it has been a part of @ChelseaHouska entire adult life," he tweeted in response to The Ashley's exclusive report that Chelsea was leaving. MTV shared the same photo as Chelsea to the official Teen Mom Instagram account, adding that "... viewers have been there through it all and always looked to Chelsea for inspiration and advice. As she begins her next chapter, we're so excited to watch her excel in her future endeavors."

It seems that the split between MTV and Chelsea is amicable, so what led to the decision? Here is the real reason Chelsea Houska quit Teen Mom 2.

Teen Mom 2's Chelsea Houska has big plans

Ever since The Ashley broke the news of Chelsea Houska's departure, rumors swirled that their recent criticism of Cole DeBoer led to the couple's decision to leave TV screens. According to The Ashley, Teen Mom 2 viewers argued Cole was overstepping a line as Aubree's stepdad regarding her relationship with her biological dad, Adam Lind. However, the outlet reported that Chelsea's decision to leave got made before the controversial episodes aired.

Chelsea wrote that there is no bad blood between her family and MTV, and she is ready to move on. "We're parting on the best of terms and will stay in touch long after this," she teased. "Our next chapter in life will focus on developing our brand and taking things to the next level with new endeavors and expanding family businesses." The mom also made sure to thank her loyal fans and MTV for their continued support. Speaking of the "brand," Chelsea has tapped into designing accessories for Itzy Ritzy, as well as a home goods line inspired by Aubree. The couple also launched an Instagram account following the design of their new house.

Before the announcement, Chelsea and Cole celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary as they prepared to welcome a new bundle of joy into their lives. "Happy 4th anniversary to the love of my life! So beyond grateful for the life we are building together," she gushed. "You are the most incredible and kind person and I am SO proud to be your wife." It sounds like the parents are doing better than ever.
