How Many Couples From Teen Mom Are Actually Still Together?

It's hard to believe it's already been more than a decade since MTV first introduced us to the reality show, 16 and Pregnant, and its spin-off, Teen MomProducers crafted a slam dunk with the former, which premiered in June 2009, featuring young girls entering motherhood for the first time. It was such a hit that Teen Mom (later renamed Teen Mom OG), launched exactly six months later. Meanwhile, Teen Mom 2 had its premiere in 2011 and is still going strong today, but the lesser popular Teen Mom 3, which first aired in 2013, only lasted one season.

One thing every iteration of the Teen Mom franchise has in common? These shows are jam-packed with drama (absentee baby daddies, breakups, and custody battles), so it makes sense that they've enjoyed such longevity. But one of the most interesting facets of Teen Mom (apart from the babies, exes, and family drama) has been watching the young ladies grow on their journey to find love, happiness, and family stability. However, with teen pregnancy relationship statistics sometimes stacked against them, it's too not surprising that only a couple of the young mothers managed to maintain a romantic relationship with their 16 and Pregnant boyfriends, while others are on their second or third try at love.

Let's take a look at how many of the couples we've watched blossom on Teen Mom are actually still together.

Teen Mom stars Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra are stronger than ever

Teen Mom OG star Catelynn Lowell and her baby daddy, Tyler Baltierra, seem like the exception to rule when it comes to teen pregnancy and relationships. These middle school sweethearts married in 2015 and share three daughters together: prior to welcoming Novalee Reign and Vaeda, the proud parents placed their first child, Carly, up for adoption in their heart-wrenching episode of 16 and Pregnant.

Despite dealing with ongoing rumors of marital troubles — and, at one point, trying a trial separation in Season 8 of Teen Mom OG — Lowell and Baltierra have managed to defy the odds over the years and came out of that particular rough patch pretty solid. "I think the biggest misconception people had about the trial separation was that like, 'Oh my God, since you're gonna live separate and do this then you're automatically going to get a divorce, or you're automatically gonna wanna see other people,'" Lowell told E! News in June 2019. She added that therapy and "learning to communicate" helped them get over some of their relationship "bumps."

Whatever they learned must've worked since they're already talking about expanding their broad. "My baby fever is insane," Lowell quipped to People in February 2020, Meanwhile, Baltierra shared the same sentiment, telling the magazine that he'd love to have a little boy this time around, adding, "We're not done yet. We just love being parents too much."

Maci Bookout and Taylor McKinney are living their best married life

Maci Bookout landed right where she's meant to be with her husband, Taylor McKinney. Good for her, considering the Teen Mom OG star's relationship with McKinney is night-and-day compared to the drama we watched play out with her first baby daddy, Ryan Edwards (with whom she shares son Bentley), on 16 and Pregnant.

Bookout, who seems to be living her best life these days, married McKinney in 2016 after three years of dating. The couple have since welcomed two kids together, Jayde and Maverick (via Us Weekly), and also nabbed a posh dream house with a $659,000 price tag on it in 2018. According to The Sun, the gorgeous Tennessee pad sits on more than six acres and features cathedral ceilings, a movie theater, and a "massive" underground pool. Not too shabby. While their relationship appears to be picture perfect on and off screen, Bookout and McKinney unfortunately haven't been exempt from the breakup rumor mill. However, fans can rest their worries aside, as a source cited by Us Weekly in February 2020 said, "There's no truth to these rumors whatsoever," adding that the two actually "laugh" at the hearsay and "are happier together than ever."

What else is in the cards for the Teen Mom ginger and her hubby? In 2018, Bookout revealed on Teen Mom 2 star Kailyn Lowry's Coffee Convos podcast that they want to adopt a fourth child when their family is in the "perfect position to do so."

Mackenzie Standifer stood by Teen Mom OG alum Ryan Edwards' side

After he and Maci Bookout officially called it quits, Ryan Edwards also moved on romantically, secretly tying the knot with Mackenzie Standifer in May 2017. Although things seem to be going well for the TV star and his new lady these days, married life unfortunately hasn't always been easy for this couple, who famously left the MTV series in July 2018.

Teen Mom OG fans are most likely aware that their wedding took place just before Edwards' first stint in rehab for drug abuse, as well as his string of arrests over the next two years, which stemmed from allegedly violating probation following his 2017 heroin possession charge, speeding, and theft. While seeking treatment for his drug addiction again in 2018, Edwards reportedly missed the birth of the couple's first child together, a son named Jagger, that October.

Through it all, Standifer has stood by Edwards' side, and on New Years Day 2020, they welcomed baby No. 2, a daughter named Stella Rhea. While speaking with The Sun around that time, Edwards' father, Larry, revealed how his son had turned his life around in preparation for his daughter's birth, saying, "He's sober. He's staying busy. Mackenzie keeps an eye on him!" Meanwhile, a source cited by Radar Online previously claimed, "Jail scared him straight ... Finding out [Mackenzie] was pregnant again put a pep in his step on the dad part."

Gary and Kristina Shirley weathered the storm on Teen Mom OG

The world first met Gary Shirley when Amber Portwood was pregnant with his daughter, Leah, on 16 and Pregnant. The former couple's dramatic storyline continued on Teen Mom, with Portwood serving jail time after allegedly physically assaulting Shirley during a domestic dispute. For his part, Shirley eventually moved on from Portwood with Kristina Shirley (née Anderson) ... but that relationship had its own flavor of drama when it started.

During a Teen Mom OG finale special in 2015, the Shirleys revealed that Kristina was still with her then-husband, Greg, when she first met Gary two years earlier. "It wasn't my intention, and it wasn't hers either. But you can't stop love," Gary told reunion host Dr. Drew Pinksy (via In Touch), before explaining that he thought Kristina was "separated" when they got together. When Dr. Drew asked the reality star if she'd indeed been cheating (per Us Weekly), Gary replied, "Yes, with me. But I wasn't aware of the situation." But that wasn't all. Kristina shares a daughter, Karly, with her ex-husband, but we never got to see her face onscreen for a reason: according to In Touch, "Greg filed for a restraining order against Kristina in order to protect his daughter from what he perceives to be an unhealthy situation."

Despite their rocky start, Gary and Kristina's love has weathered the storm. After welcoming their daughter, Emilee Grace, in May 2015, the couple wed just a few months later.

Corey and Miranda Simms have endured their fair share of Teen Mom drama

After Corey Simms' marriage with Teen Mom 2 star Leah Messer (the mother of his twin daughters, Ali and Aleeah) fell apart, he gave love a second try and began dating West Virginia Sheriff's Deputy Miranda Patterson. Thankfully, things worked out this time around: the two wed in June 2013, and welcomed their daughter, Remington Monroe, together two years later. However, like many of their predecessors, this Teen Mom union has endured its own share of controversy.

On the Season 6 Teen Mom 2 reunion show in 2015, Messer revealed that she'd somehow "disrespected" Miranda. She later shed light on what went down, confessing to Us Weekly, "Corey and I did hook up two months after they got married." Messer added, "Miranda doesn't want me in the picture. She wants to hurt me because she thinks that Corey and I still have something for each other."

Don't get too excited about a possible Messer-Simms reconciliation though. That short-lived affair seems to be water well under the bridge, considering Corey and Miranda Simms are still going strong. The couple not only celebrated their sixth wedding anniversary in 2019, but when Messer's second ex-husband, Jeremy Calvert, appeared to take a dig at Miranda on the Season 9 reunion show that year, Corey immediately came to his wife's defense. In a lengthy rebuttal on Twitter, he called Miranda his "queen," writing in part (via Ashley's Reality Roundup), "I love her more than words can describe."

Jenelle Evans and David Eason's breakup didn't last long

Jenelle Evans and David Eason are on the list of Teen Mom 2 couples still together. Yup, after briefly calling it quits in October 2019, these two — who married and welcomed daughter Ensley in 2017 — were back on just months later.

Before we get into the reconciliation, let's recap ups and downs of this romance, which has unfortunately been riddled with domestic disputes onscreen and off. According to Radar Online, one such alleged incident occurred in December 2018, when Evans called 911 while hiding in her attic, because Eason — who was previously fired from the show over homophobic tweets — was "freaking out" outside: "He's smashing our front door trying to get inside." Evans reportedly claimed in a previously 911 call that Eason had assaulted her.

While Evans' status on the show remains unclear after news came out that Eason had killed their family dog, one thing we do know is these two are back together. "David was there for me through everything that happened, good or bad, and was my best friend," Evans, who also has two sons, Jace and Kaiser, from previous relationships, explained in a March 2020 interview with In Touch. "I just couldn't imagine my life without him. I felt like I gave up on him, but he never gave up on me." She added that the key to making things work this time around included, "Setting boundaries like no cussing, name-calling, and lower our tone of voices."

Did Teen Mom OG give Cory Wharton and Taylor Selfridge baby fever?

MTV star Cory Wharton may not have hit relationship gold with Teen Mom OG's Cheyenne Floyd — however, he seems to be doing well with his Are You the One Star girlfriend, Taylor Selfridge, these days. Sure, Wharton and Floyd (who share a daughter, Ryder) told Dr. Drew Pinksy during the Teen Mom OG Season 8 reunion that they were open to having more kids together, but that love ship seems to have sailed.

Wharton, who's also starred on MTV's The Real World and The Challenge, met Selfridge in 2018 while filming the first season of Ex on the Beach, and Selfridge has made several Teen Mom cameos ever since they became an item. In October 2019, the couple announced that they were expecting a baby together, per Us Weekly. (Perhaps all that time around the Teen Mom ladies gave Selfridge a case of baby fever?)

According to the magazine, Wharton and Selfridge were "on and off for the last two years, but have only gotten closer since finding out their family is growing." As Wharton himself told the outlet, "We're going to have to deal with each other for the rest of our lives, you know? If we like each other, if we stay together, if we decide to co-parent if we decide to get married ... whatever it is, we have to be able to communicate." People reports that they welcomed a baby girl in April 2020.

Chelsea and Cole DeBoer's unlikely Teen Mom 2 meet-cute

After all that drama with baby daddy Adam Lind played out on 16 and Pregnant, who would've thought that Teen Mom 2 star Chelsea DeBoer (née Houska) would meet her future husband at a gas station? Well, that's exactly how it went down.

As the MTV starlet told Us Weekly in 2015, she caught Cole DeBoer "staring" while she pumped gas, although the two didn't actually speak that day. "We just kept looking at each other because we're both shy," Chelsea said, adding, "I went home to my friend and I was like, 'I just saw the guy I'm going to marry at the gas station, but we didn't talk.'" Thankfully, Cole reached out to her on social media a couple of days later and formally introduced himself. Chelsea's reaction? "I was like, 'Thank you, Jesus.'" And the rest is Teen Mom 2 history.

The DeBoers, who share two kids together (son Watson and daughter Layne), married in October 2016 after getting engaged a year prior, according to Brides. And Cole appears to be a doting stepdad to Chelsea's first daughter with Lind, Aubrey. However, the pair told E! News in 2019 that their baby-making days aren't quit over yet, with Chelsea saying she and her hubby "definitely want more kids — at least one." She added, "But I think we're going to wait probably a little farther than the last two babies."

Jo Rivera's wife Vee Torres helps him co-parent with his Teen Mom 2 ex

Teen Mom 2 star Kailyn Lowry may have let her first baby daddy, Jo Rivera, go after their son, Issac, was born in 2011, but another lady was quick to scoop him up!

Rivera has been going strong with beauty blogger Vee Torres ever since: after welcoming their daughter, Vivi, in 2015, the couple tied the knot three years later (via Us Weekly). Lowry herself was even in attendance on the couple's big day, which prompted some Teen Mom fans to question why she would attend her ex's nuptials. For her part, Lowry immediately shut down the haters on Twitter, writing (via People), "Y'all really want me to still be bitter about Jo & Vee. We've come a long way since we were 18. I couldn't ask for a better stepmom for Isaac. Literally cried tears of happiness for them last night."

A year later, Lowry told In Touch that it was Torres who helped her and Rivera get to a good place when it comes to co-parenting (fans of the show will remember the drama that played out when Lowry found out Rivera was taking her to court for child support). "Things are good now, and truthfully, I credit Vee for that," Lowry, who shares 50/50 custody of Isaac these days with Rivera, told the magazine. "If it wasn't for her things would be a lot different."

Wedding bells are chiming for Teen Mom 3 star Alex Sekella

When Teen Mom 3 viewers met Alex Sekella during her pregnancy on 16 and Pregnant, it was quickly apparent that her journey into motherhood wasn't going to be easy. Her mother wanted her out of her home if she didn't put the baby up for adoption, according to In Touch, and baby daddy Matt McCann, who's struggled with drug addiction, didn't exactly offer an ideal plan for stability for the teenage mom-to-be. Sekella's mom eventually came around and allowed Sekella, her daughter, Arabella, and even McCann (who has since completed a stint in rehab) to move into her abode. However, having grandma's help with baby Arabella didn't seem to help the teen parents stay together, and they ultimately wound up parting ways.

Once McCann was out of the picture, Sekella moved on with a new guy named Tim Peters, and the couple has since been moving right along, according to People. After four years together, Sekella and Peters got engaged in December 2018, and the MTV star later said "yes to the dress" in May 2019. While the two have since remained quiet on the date of their nuptials, Sekella did post a photo of a bouquet with two wedding bands on it on Instagram in February 2020, alongside the simple caption, "Coming soon."

Teen Mom's Mackenzie and Josh Mckee say counseling saved their marriage

Teen Mom OG couple Mackenzie and Josh McKee announced that they were splitting in August 2019, but were back on just weeks later. The parents, who share three kids together, Gannon, Jaxie, and Broncs, started dating in 2009 and married in a country-themed wedding in 2013 (via Us Weekly). But their divorce announcement stemmed from Josh's admission of being unfaithful to MacKenzie, which was their main storyline during Season 8.

According to an interview with People that October, a marriage counseling retreat has been credited for saving the young parents' marriage. "One day we were walking back to our hotel room after a lesson and he just stopped me and said, 'I'm ready to give my life to Christ. I really want to be saved,'" Mackenzie said. "That is something that I've been patiently praying for nine years."

What Teen Mom fans may have missed since Josh's indiscretion took center stage on the show, however, was that there was infidelity on both sides, which Mackenzie reiterated to the magazine. They've apparently moved past all that though. "We found our way back to each other even when we thought it was impossible," Mackenzie continued, adding that she "fell in love with a new man." After the couple returned from the retreat, Josh re-proposed to Mackenzie with a scavenger hunt and a new ring to seal the deal.
