This Is Why 90 Day Fiance's Karine Quit Social Media

Paul Staehle and Karine Martins' journey on the 90 Day Fiancé franchise has been anything but easy. As Paul wrote on Instagram for their anniversary in fall 2020, "Happy 3 Year Wedding Anniversary. It's been one hell of a roller coaster ride." Even calling their relationship a roller coaster might be underselling the situation — it's much more of a Tilt-a-Whirl, leaving viewers feeling a bit dizzy from the constant back-and-forth. In light of all the drama, the couple is seemingly taking a step back from the spotlight.

In November 2020, Paul took to Instagram to explain what's been going on with him and his wife — albeit very vaguely. While they're done with the 90 Day franchise (for now at least), things didn't end on bad terms with the TV network. "We were not fired or reprimanded," Paul explained on Instagram Story (via Reality TV World), "We were given time to deal with our family matters privately. Our payments and income was not affected. TLC and Sharp [Entertainment] have both been very considerate to our situation." He added that the couple does "highly appreciate [TLC] giving us time to deal with our private matters off camera."

Now that we know why you won't be seeing them on 90 Day in the near future, let's dive into why you probably won't be seeing Karine posting on social media a ton right now either. The Brazil native hasn't posted on Instagram since June 2020, so what's going on?

Internet opinions are having an 'overwhelming negative impact' on this '90 Day' couple

90 Day Fiancé star Paul Staehle shed light on his wife's virtual whereabouts in November 2020, per Reality TV World. "Karine is refraining from social media because of the extreme negativity. Financially we are fine as I am still successfully independently paying everything. We will start scheduling press interviews soon," he wrote on Insta Story of behalf of Karine Martins.

He elaborated a bit more, adding, "Because of the overwhelming negative impact of fans taking it upon themselves to pick Karine up and then make very serious false allegations in her name... we will probably no longer be filming." Given the vagueness, it's easy to jump to conclusions, especially with all the worrisome headlines Paul's relationship with Karine have made in recent months — ranging from money problems to split rumors to more serious matters, including sexual assault allegations and a restraining order, per Cheat Sheet. There were also reports that Karine was missing, but she later said she and her son Pierre were home and "doing well," according to Us Weekly.

Hopefully this time off-screen will allow the two to figure out their situation in a way that's healthiest for all involved, including their young son. Karine is also pregnant with a second baby boy, per Reality TV World, and the pair is living in Brazil. Once they do get more situated, Paul shared, "We are hopeful and eager to possibly return in the future in a more positive time in our growing [family's] lives."
