Billy Porter Shares What It's Really Like To Work With Camila Cabello

Billy Porter lived out his most magical fairytale while playing the Fairy Godmother in Sony's remake of Cinderella, due in theaters in early 2021. "First of all, I'm playing the Whitney Houston part," he gushed to E! NewsClearly a pinch me moment for the star, Porter told the outlet: "You have to write he screams and shakes his head and screams, OK?"

Another magical thing about the film, according to Porter, is the rewriting of outdated and "problematic" stereotypes found in so many fairy tales. "This new version takes all of that into account and it is the most empowering version of a Cinderella story that you could ever imagine. And that's all I can say." While he refrained from spilling more details about Cinderella, the Emmy award-winning actor was happy to loosen his lips about possibly the most magical part of it all: sharing the screen with Cinderella herself, Camila Cabello.

Camila Cabello is like a real life Cinderella

Billy Porter had nothing but love for Camila Cabello while speaking to E! News about working with the singer and actress. "I was just really taken aback by how sweet she is, how present she is, how grounded she is," he explained. "She's a really grounded young lady who understands her position in her influence. And that's really hard to do at her age. I wouldn't know what to do. I'm coming into fame as a 50-year-old person on the planet and it's crazy," he reflected.

Cabello first entered the limelight as a teen after auditioning for the competition show The X Factor in 2012, which resulted in her being placed into the girl group Fifth Harmony. The group went on to tour the world with successful hits like "Worth It" and "Work from Home" after coming in third on the show. Cabello left the group in 2016 to pursue her solo career.

The pop star has been open about her gratitude regarding playing Cinderella, which marks her acting debut. On the last day of filming, Cabello posted a video updating her fans on the project. "last day of being a freakin bad**s rebellious dreamer princess! Today was our last day wrapping Cinderella. I'm so grateful to have had this experience ... I can't wait for all of you to see this movie," she gushed. The Grammy-nominated singer was also heavily involved in the creation of music for the film, per Variety

Cinderella is set to hit theaters in February 2021.
