Teen Mom 2: Inside Kailyn Lowry's Rocky Relationship With Her Sister

Kailyn Lowry, one of the long-term faces on MTV's Teen Mom 2, has had a remarkable journey. Although she lives in a massive home with her beautiful brood of four boys, she's also had a difficult life. Kailyn got arrested in September 2020 for allegedly getting into a fight with the father of her two youngest sons, and she doesn't always get along with other people in her life. For instance, she has a history of disliking Lauren Comeau, who was engaged to her ex-husband, Javi Marroquin.

Kailyn also has a hard history with her mom. Fans who first followed Kailyn on 16 and Pregnant saw that she was living with her then-boyfriend, Jo Rivera, and his parents, as her mother wasn't acting supportive. According to The Sun, Kailyn doesn't speak to her anymore because of her mother's history of alcoholism. Kailyn felt it was better to block her mother out completely, and she also doesn't have contact with her dad.

Kailyn has since opened up about her relationship with her half-sister, and that's fraught, too. Here's the backstory.

Kailyn Lowry is done with her sister

Kailyn Lowry has a younger sister named Mikaila Shelburne, according to In Touch Weekly, who lives in Crawford, Texas. Mikala and Kailyn are half-sisters, connected by their father. It seems that the sisters aren't very close, although this always wasn't the case. In 2014, Mikaila wrote to Kailyn on Instagram, "I love and miss you and cause I love talking to you. I can't wait to be reunited with sometime soon hopefully!" And in 2019, Kailyn flew to Texas to support Mikaila when her mom died.

Kailyn has addressed the deterioration of her relationship with Mikaila, and on her podcast Baby Mamas No Drama (which she co-hosts with Vee Torres Rivera), she said she closed the door on her relationship with her sister. The two sisters struggled with arguments, and according to The Ashley's Reality Roundup, Mikaila didn't like the way she got portrayed when she joined Kailyn on a few episodes of Teen Mom 2. Kailyn told Vee on the podcast, "I completely closed the chapter on my relationship between my sister and me." And during an episode of TM2, Kailyn expressed frustration that Mikaila told Kailyn to cancel her visit to Texas because she got bit by a dog. "I don't want to introduce more people to my kids and they're not permanent," she said, per TARR. "I don't want to get my kids' hopes up for knowing their aunt and their cousin and then it not going anywhere."

Sheesh. Sounds like that's the end of that.
