The couple were previously estranged in July 2020 after a huge fight that was captured on Instagram, In Touch Weekly reported. The Louisville, Ky., police were called to their residence, and both Paul and Karine filed restraining orders against each other. After claiming Paul sexually assaulted her, Karine fled the Kentucky residence with 2-year-old son Pierre in tow, while Paul returned to their Brazil apartment, per Reality TV World. In September 2020, their respective restraining orders were dropped, and the family fully relocated to Brazil.

Karine Martins has threatened to divorce Paul Staehle
Despite the announcement that Paul Staehle and Karine Martins would not be returning to the franchise following the Season 5 finale, Paul posted on his Instagram Story that they are "hopeful" to be back on screen in the future, per In Touch Weekly. He also addressed fan concerns that Karine's Instagram account was unusually quiet, writing that his wife was "refraining from social media because of the extreme negativity."
Today, Karine is pregnant with their second son, Ethan, and hopes to pursue cosmetology in Brazil. All is not forgotten though, as Paul revealed he "tries to sleep in the same bed" as his wife but that's not always the case. He continued that their relationship is based on "the mood of the day," and that he runs criminal background checks on all of Karine's acquaintances. Even stranger, the couple keep their unborn child in a jar that Karine miscarried in 2018. They keep the jar in a refrigerator, and Paul explained to the Dom Nati Show that he wants to bury the body near Karine's grandmother's grave.
