How Anne Hathaway Really Feels About Leonardo DiCaprio
Anne Hathaway and Leonardo DiCaprio are both highly regarded for their on-screen portrayals. But, with DiCaprio being eight years older than Hathaway, she was able to form quite an opinion about the actor in the early days of his decades-long career.
In fact, one of DiCaprio's first acting roles was on television in the hit family sitcom Growing Pains before he transitioned into film, Biography reported. He scored an Oscar nomination at age 19 for his role as Arnie in the 1993 film What's Eating Gilbert Grape — which helped him get cast as the lead in James Cameron's 1997 award-winning film, Titanic. The role launched him into Hollywood superstardom and set the stage for his roles in later notable films. After captivating audiences in movies like Gangs of New York, The Departed, Inception, Django Unchained, and The Wolf of Wall Street, DiCaprio finally took home a Best Actor Oscar for 2015's The Revenant.
While DiCaprio's first role ever was actually in 1979, Hathaway got her start in television in the late '90s on the short-lived television series Get Real, via Biography. She went on to become a household name after being cast as the lead in the 2001 hit film The Princess Diaries and achieved higher success after appearing alongside Meryl Streep in the 2006 cult-classic The Devil Wears Prada. Her work in 2012's Les Miserables nabbed her an Oscar, Golden Globe, BAFTA, and SAG Award.
Anne Hathaway had the hots for young Leonardo DiCaprio
After rising up the ranks in Hollywood, Anne Hathaway took time to reflect in January 2021 and revealed the fellow Oscar winner she had a crush on as a child. During an appearance on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the Ocean's 8 star played a game of "Best, Worst, or First" where she had to quickly say the first name that comes to mind when asked a question.
When asked who her celebrity crush was growing up, she quickly replied, "Leonardo DiCaprio, come on!" (She went on to dish on how she was also into Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder "around the same time.") The Dark Knight Rises actress struggled to remember the exact name of the sitcom DiCaprio appeared on during his teenage years. "He was on that show for a while, Who's the Boss?" Hathaway said, before Fallon hopped in to correct her. But Hathaway made it clear that the name of the show wasn't her focus at the time. "I don't remember, I just remember being like, 'Hiii, who's that?'" she added. We're sure she isn't the first Hollywood actress who used to crush on DiCaprio — and she certainly won't be the last.
