Marion Cotillard Speaks Out About Brad Pitt Rumors

Academy Award-winning actress Marion Cotillard won't let a little old thing like a rumor of an affair with Brad Pitt get her down.

In September 2016, Page Six reported that Cotillard, 41, hooked up with Pitt, 52, while they filmed Allied (2016), and that Pitt's estranged wife, Oscar-winner Angelina Jolie, discovered the dalliance via a private investigator. A source told the tab, "[Jolie] hired a private eye because she felt that he was fooling around with her on the set, and it turns out, he was. And that was the final straw [for the marriage]."

Cotillard, who is expecting a child with longtime partner Guillaume Canet, previously denied the allegations, writing on Instagram, "I am not used to commenting on things like this nor taking them seriously. But as this situation is spiraling and affecting people I love, I have to speak up...This crafted conversation isn't distressing...And to all the media and the haters who are quick to pass judgment, I sincerely wish you a swift recovery. Finally, I do very much wish that Angelina and Brad, both whom I deeply respect, will find peace in this very tumultuous moment."

On Nov. 17, 2016, the French actress was promoting Allied after working red carpets with Pitt, and she reiterated her stance that she had absolutely nothing to do with the estranged couple's divorce. "I never take anything personally when it doesn't concern me," she said on the Today show. "So I didn't take it personally because I had nothing to do with these rumors or situations. I don't give energy to this, and it was a wonderful experience working with such a [visionary] director and an amazing actor, so that's all that matters."

Perhaps to drive her point home that there was no real heat between herself and Pitt, Cotillard said in a press conference on Nov. 16, 2016, that filming sex scenes with the star was "awkward." She giggled to Page Six, "It's an awkward situation. We laughed because...this is so weird...'And then we go into this, and then I'm going on top of you, and then we are going to kiss.'"
