Inside Claudia Conway's Relationship With Her Dad

Conservative attorney George Conway III and his wife Kellyanne Conway have had multiple family issues brought into the public eye, including several disagreements with their daughter. But before we get into all of that, let's catch you up to speed on the family.

The couple met in 1999 after George reached out to Ann Coulter, who was a mutual friend of Kelly's, and asked to meet her, per The New York Times. They were married in 2001 and had four children, including Vanessa, Charlotte, George IV, and his twin sister Claudia, who has often found herself in the media spotlight. Donald Trump has been a major point of contention among the family, which had played out publicly. When Kellyanne was a counselor at the White House for President Trump, her husband was outspoken against the then-president. He even helped found The Lincoln Project, an organization that created anti-Trump ads, per The Hill.

As for Claudia, she struck viral fame when she followed suit by publicly bashing Trump on social media. During an interview with People's Insider, the teenager spoke about refusing to delete her posts. "I'm not going to because I think I have a right to my own freedom of speech," she added, "My dad thinks it's awesome that I'm speaking for myself and expressing my views." Later, Claudia made posts that her father seemingly did not support — here's what else you need to know about their relationship.

Inside Claudia Conway's disagreements with her parents

Claudia Conway began to experience online attention when her anti-Trump tweets and TikTok videos went viral. In June 2020, the teen told USA Today that her parents supported her choice to speak out. "My dad is pretty supportive of it, you know, my mom, she's always taught me to stand up for what I believe in," she told the publication.

Shortly after that interview, George Conway made a public statement on Twitter in an attempt to seemingly thwart media outlets from contacting his daughter. "To journalists: @kellyannepolls and I do *not* consent to any communications between you and any of our minor children, including our daughter Claudia. So desist," he tweeted. Claudia no longer felt supported by her parents and claimed they turned her phone off in an attempt to silence her. She responded to her father's tweet by airing family drama, "[Y]ou're just mad that i'm finally getting my voice heard. sorry your marriage failed," she wrote in a tweet, according to Complex. "[M]y parents, particularly my mother, are trying to silence me by getting me to delete my social media," Claudia wrote in a follow-up tweet. She later made her account private.

Later that summer, in August 2020, George announced that he was leaving the Lincoln Project to focus on his family, which coincided with Kellyanne leaving her position at the White House, according to The Hill.

Claudia Conway accused her dad of leaving the family

Claudia Conway took aim at her father in a series of TikTok videos in January 2021. She claimed George Conway had left the family and wrote, "[M]y dad dipping this morning saying he wants nothing to do with our family and leaving for good," in a TikTok video. Shortly after, Claudia posted another TikTok about her father. This time she was in his closet and was threatening to sell his clothes on eBay. "[S]elling all my dad's s**t on ebay hurry up everythings going fast," she wrote on the video.

Weeks later, a controversy surrounding the family exploded when a graphic photo of the teenager was shared on Kellyanne Conway's Twitter account. According to the New York Post, Claudia originally accused her mother of posting the illicit image on purpose. Afterward, Claudia deleted those TikToks accusing her mother.

On Jan. 26, 2021, her father tweeted on her behalf: "Our daughter Claudia asked me to tweet this statement for her." He included a link to a TikTok where Claudia defended her mother. "I have faith and I know that my mother would never put something like that on the internet," she added, "We fight like mothers and daughters but being in the public eye exacerbates that greatly. I will be leaving social media for a bit to work on my relationship with my mom and my family."
