According to Ace Showbiz, Blair played the character Kim, a 36-year-old divorcee on the search for love, and Day was cast as her estranged husband, Craig.

Selma Blair and Mikey Day dated for about a year before splitting up in 2009, according to Ranker. During their relationship, the couple was spotted showing off PDA in the ocean during a romantic day in Miami, Florida, on March 7, 2009, as well as attended numerous red carpet events together. At the time, the actress shared that she was "in love" with the "wonderful" and "funny" Saturday Night Live comedian.
"It's never happened to me before but it happened, I fell in love," Blair explained (via SF Gate). "I've never had a set romance. I think it makes work a lot more fun." However, she revealed that they waited until after Kath & Kim finished filming before officially getting together. She continued, "We were really affectionate while we were shooting but we didn't get together until filming wrapped, because we didn't want it to be like, 'Ooh, what if you don't like me...?'"
