How Kim Kardashian's Divorce Will Impact Her Business Ventures

Kim Kardashian West has officially filed for divorce from Kanye West after almost seven years of marriage, according to TMZ.

The report states that the months of rumors of an impending split between the Hollywood power couple are essentially true, with the reality star hiring divorce attorney Laura Wesser to officially file the paperwork. Rumor has it, the couple quit marriage counseling long ago and have simply been working on splitting their $60 million home, massive fortune, and figuring out a custody agreement for their four children, North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm.

Kimye first married back in 2014 in a private ceremony overlooking Florence, Italy. The nuptials were all the buzz as the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star kept her wedding details a bit more hush-hush, compared to her elaborate wedding to NBA player Kris Humphries in 2011.

According to People, Kim Kardashian-West decided to desert her "Kardashian" name and legally change to Mrs. West shortly after tie-tying the knot becoming Kim Kardashian West. The socialite has since gone by KKW, even naming her cosmetics line KKW beauty after her new married title.

With divorce paperwork filed, what does the split mean for Kim's businesses?

Will Kim Kardashian West change her last name?

TMZ reports Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West are working within their prenup to divide their $60 million home and billion-dollar fortune, but will the Kardashian revert back to simply being a "Kardashian" again?

As the owner of two businesses, SKIMS and KKW Beauty, Kim Kardashian West may have some heavy paperwork to do if she plans to change her name back to Kim Kardashian. SKIMS is the less likely of the two businesses to be affected, given the loungewear and undergarment line's name is a play on the word "skin" and "Kim." Her cosmetics company, however, is where things get tricky.

The reality star launched KKW Beauty, named after her marital name, in the summer of 2017. The company has since had millions in sales, and even sparked the launch of KKW Fragrance that same year, according to WWD. At this point, it's unclear what will happen, but the cosmetic company could be forced to change its name.

Even if legally the star has the option to keep KKW Beauty and KKW Fragrance with the KKW brand, it's unclear whether the reality star would even want to. A fresh start could mean ridding the West name altogether, and Kim's fans have shown time and time again they will stand by her no matter what.
