Fan reactions to Jennie and G-Dragon's relationship have been mixed
When Korean media outlet Dispatch (via Allkpop) reported on Feb. 24, 2021, that Blackpink's Jennie had been dating fellow Korean superstar G-Dragon for at least a year, fans were shocked because K-pop stars' personal lives are largely kept under wraps. Unlike Western celebrities who often disclose their romances on social media, K-pop stars "are often forbidden from disclosing personal details, with some even having a 'no dating' clause in their contracts," CNN reported. However, it seems like Jennie and G-Dragon's management does not have a no-dating clause as they did not deny their relationship, issuing out a statement that read, "We cannot confirm anything about our artists' personal lives. We ask for your understanding," according to Soompi.
Blinks, though, made their opinions heard on Twitter. "It's perfectly fine if they are dating seriously," one user wrote. "But the hate Jennie will receive from this again." Another user was more skeptical and tweeted, "me trying to explain why jennie and g-dragon aren't actually dating," with a meme video of a man explaining formulas on a white board.
